i'm surprised blondie kept the moniker, they named the band after Hitler's dog.

I'm not familiar with any Blondie albums, but I tried going on youtube through first two albums. Is it punk rock? Cause it didn't sound like that much.

As for me... I'm probably on another range of the spectre - art/prog rock. One of the reasons punk rock emerged, I heard. )

I'm amazed for all the punk talk, no one's name dropped Flipper yet. I know I'm not the only one that's heard of them. Kinda sad to think I'm the only that likes them.

Flipper is pretty good. Totally underrated and rarely hear much about them. Not sure why I haven't become a fan yet.

It's not really. Punk, New Wave, and all kinds of stuff was all considered the same thing during those formative years. Which is funny because even the Misfits hardly sounded anything like the Dead Boys. Black Flag hardly sounded anything like the Ramones. Blondie had a punk rock edge to their sound, and a punker following, because of their association with CBGB and Max's Kansas City in NYC, seminal punk clubs.

May have found a way to fix the Youtube streaming issues. If you block the following IPs, Youtube no longer has buffering issues. I was able to play a video at full resolution, stop it, and resume the video with no issues.

173.194.55.0
206.111.0.0

Copy these for both inbound and outbound firewall rules. As well as local and remote IPs. All these settings are found under the Scope tab.

you have to find pre-75 Blondie (or Angel and the Snakes or the Stilettos) to hear their punk stuff.
Some of the stuff on their first album (Blondie) from '76 retains a little of their punk roots

some of the stuff people called punk in the early to mid 70s is not what we'd call it, but it's the same for every generation

whether or not people like to admit punk goes through phases like pretty much every other genre of music; it does
styles do change and progress/regress

both these were released in the early 80's; obvious difference as styles transition

late 70's style (2nd gen)

vs.

80's style (3rd gen - or what some people call 2nd american gen)

Most of that crossover crap sucks. D.R.I. is okay about half the time and Suicidal Tendencies kept it legit for life, but most of it is boring boring boring, always tape machine recording. I hate how crossover is all the rage these days. The new bands suck even more. I wish Municipal Waste would fuck off.

Jello Biafra's album with D.O.A. is a favourite of mine.

That was like their last good album too. Husker really fell off.

I never really found Anal Cunt interesting, their song titles are funny sometimes and that's about it. The music is boring. But that's okay, all grindcore is boring.

Green Jello's fun to listen to now and again. Shame I've only managed to dig up one of their albums.

argh!. don't get me started on that
There were some good bands that stayed the course, but too many either pretended to be edgy pop at one extreme or thrash metal at the other

this was my favorite for awhile back in the early 80s

Some news on the upcoming season of 24. Instead of doing 24 full one hour episodes, I think they might do 12 two hour episodes. It'll be featuring the usual stars (Jack, Chloe), in addition to some past ones (James Heller), and some new ones (Yvonne Strahovski, who some of us know as Miranda Lawson from Mass Effect). If all goes well, there's talk of a reboot of the series. Will premiere on May 5th. I have not spoiled any of the plot, although I have read some details, I'd prefer not to utter them here.
