Wow, it was no more than 2005 when Linux had a greater share than Mac. Still, at least Windows 8 is doing better than Mac.

No mean feat considering that all new PCs and Laptops have Windows 8 built-in. What's important is the trends. Even Vista went up to 17% usership for a while, but notice how now XP is in higher use than Vista, but most of XP's usership went to 7.

Still too early to tell how bad Windows 8 will be, but if the fact that they released Windows 8.1 to sate the concerns of business users is any proof, it's going to crap out really quickly.

If I read it correctly, those stats are only from W3schools systems over the last number of years. Not the general public. But its still interesting. I'm in the minority with Vista.

A little google searching showed me that XP remains so popular because it had at least 6 years before Vista came along to replace it. Vista only had about 2 years before Win7 came along. So there are a whole lot of XP machines on the used market keeping it alive.
