Bros, tell me if this computer is any good. Apparently I'm being gifted it from a cousin's fiancee who got it from his sister. ;)

Oh wow, that's badass!

Order a triple channel memory kit from Newegg. Bump it to six gigs. If the video card sucks, throw a new one in. The i7-920 is still a fast CPU.

Wait till you guys see the free PC I'm giving Captain Awesome...Not as good as that, but pretty fuckin' boss.

You'll hear about it when it's ready to come out of the oven.

It's a cat. You feed it, pet it, and if you get a motorized cat box, you don't even have to clean up it's shit. Or just get a dog, it'll eat the cat shit right out of the box.

Cats are relatively easy to handle compared to dogs. They live almost on their own, while dogs you must take care of like a child.

Yep. Very little maintenance. Aside from cleaning the litter box, feeding or watering, I don't have to do anything. Well aside from maybe watching a bit of TV with Cosmo. Something he likes to do with me. He'll sit there and when the show is done and the TV turns off, he immediately jumps off.

Cosmo is like the son I never had. Some people sometimes refer to their pets as their kids. In a way, I am his father, and he is my son. He hasn't really gotten attached to anyone besides me.

Motorized cat box? I didn't even know they existed. While I already bought the usual one, I'll ask about motorized.

Shouldn't you wash it once a month?

I wish cat would play coop with me.

Yup, another benefit to owning a cat. It doesn't roll around in the mud or get too dirty.

Oh, and cats hate water, unlike dogs. Most cats anyways, there are rare exceptions.

Cats piss in the house, at least the one I ended up with, this stink is still in my nose, you can't train a cat like you can a dog, and they are fuzzy eaters, and they damage wood furniture, and so on. They are good pets, but dogs are simply better after you spend some time properly training them ... Posted Image

Most people have no idea about how to train a dog. So the chances are that the dog will piss in the house and damage furniture more than a cat.

Cats will only piss in the house if you don't train them properly. Cosmo always finds the litter box with no issues. Or sometimes if their litter box is really dirty, they don't want to use it. That might be the issue.

As for clawing up furniture, you can put stuff like aluminum foil and such to try and deter the cat from doing it. They hate the sound and it scares them.

Like I said, cats like to be clean. So if the litter box is dirty, it would be like a human trying to use a toilet which is all plugged up. I certainly wouldn't want to use that. Neither would the cat.

For me with dogs, I guess I'm not big on maintenance either. Walking them every day, plus a bunch of other things. Cats pretty much exercise themselves. Give them a toy to play with and they'll keep occupied for hours. Cosmo likes toy mice or string the best. I also have these foam balls he bats around.

Domesticated cats are trained to find litter boxes. One of the reasons I take grown-up cat is because it knows that stuff.

and they damage wood furniture, and so on.

Just bought a scratch board for that.

You know, down the road RAM will replace SSDs as the storage of choice. Kind of how SSDs replaced hard drives. RAM is insanely fast

You do understand how RAM works, right? How are you gonna use it for permanent storage?

the initial cost will be high, but if you acquire the kind with recyclable litter, it will pay for itself over time

some cats like water some don't. fill your bathtub with warm water, put on some swim trunks (for your protection), hold your cat in your arms and climb in, gently try to set the cat in the water (prepare to be scratched)
no big deal if the cat doesn't like water - they're pretty good at taking care of their own hygiene. I'd recommend brushing out once or twice a month though, to avoid having it cough up hairballs.

bullshit. i trained my cat the same way i trained my dog - reward and punishment. treats for doing tricks and behaving - a squirt with a spray bottle of water when misbehaving (you can also get electronic sonic devices that deter them from bad behavior so you can zap them instead of spraying water in your house)

they can be picky about what they eat. thanks to my wife leaving her bowl unattended on the coffee table i now know what flavors of ice-cream my cat likes and dislikes
they can mess up furniture if they get bored - get a scratch post, make sure it has toys to play with, and you can get this spray that humans can't smell, but cats hate and put a little around the corners of the furniture

Oh please, since you claim to be able to condition both animal groups you must know the limits on so called tricks you can teach a cat. Sure if you have the time and know how, like the trainers in a circus, you can even make lions and tigers and elephants perform. But with a little love and time you can draw dogs towards you with their natural built in loyalty, cats don't have that, unless of course you equate conditioned behaviour with an instinctive one.

Bottom line, there are cat lovers and there are dog lovers, and I prefer dogs over cats.

i like both. I have had one of each at any given time over the last twenty years.
cats can learn quite a bit more than you're giving them credit for. Mine can sit, stay, come, lay down, fetch, sit up. I haven't tried roll over or heal, but i probably could if i wanted to.

i don't know what "so called tricks" you can't teach a cat you're referring to, but as far as the cat's learning curve is concerned their limit is their intelligence. dogs are the same way though - there are smart ones and there are dumb ones.

My cat is loyal and follows me around just like my dog. True most wild dogs in nature run in packs and instinctively suck-up to the alpha, whereas cats are more solo in the wild (other than lion prides) and don't feel the need to suck-up to anybody, but a cat that acts completely independent of the owner has more to do with the interaction between the owner and the cat than the cat's own self dependent natural behavior. In other words love and time will also draw cats in and establish loyalty. They don't have to be "conditioned" to be able to be loyal and over ride the purported "instinctive" behavior anymore than dogs do. If we want to get technical domestic dogs and cats both have their behavior conditioned - otherwise their natural wild animal instincts would be to eat their owner's face.

Has something to do with memristors or something. I'll have to find the link.

Just like Hendricks266 was saying, if you turn your computer off, the data on these new RAM chips won't be erased.

don't be surprised if it hides out for a couple days until it gets familiar with the layout. especially if it's an older cat

It doesn't hide, but I do have an allergy. Not really sure what to do. I guess return will be in order, which is really idiotic on my part. Otherwise, cat is awesome.

too bad. things can be done to reduce the problems with allergies, but they're probably more trouble than they're worth compared to living a comfortable life without having to pop decongestants every day and cleaning your home extensively and constantly.

dogs are a consideration if you find the right breed for your taste, but you might be allergic to pet dander period. Your options may be limited to hairless breeds (very expensive and require alot of additional care), or just stick to fish, birds, and reptiles if that's your thing.

Some people are actually allergic to cats.

Gillian Anderson from X-Files is allergic to cats and in this scene with these psychotic cats, they had to make some CGI cats in order to do the scene properly.

Speaking of X-Files, I've heard a rumor where they may have to upscale the special effects instead of redoing them from scratch in order to prep the series for a Blu-ray release later this year (20th anniversary of the show is September 10). I'm really psyched about the whole thing.

I'll see what I can do about it. Don't want to give it up.

And yeah, it is an allergy to cat's protein. Hairless cats also have it.
