Is it just me, or is Youtube slow as molasses lately?

Clearly not on my end.

*I never actually get speeds that high and it usually only rarely goes at 2mbps (usually when I use Steam it will) and I am lucky to get anything above 1Mbps.

Doesn't really happen when connecting to Youtube, but more, when videos are streaming.

Damn, nice upload speed.

I wish Manhattan Project worked well with my Saturn to USB adapter. Everything works but the D-Pad. I hate using Xpadder.

After spending an afternoon making ads for Facebook and Google, I wonder if some companies just don't target their ads at all but blanket them and pay the per click cost hoping that someone buys what they are selling. Alternatively, my interests are so spread out that Facebook has no idea what I actually like so it is a cluster-fuck.

Bros, tell me if this computer is any good. Apparently I'm being gifted it from a cousin's fiancee who got it from his sister. ;)

That reminds me, when the ADSL went out I used the dial-up and they charged me on top of my contract, I think I can get out of it as I have proof that the system was down, I will argue that the dial-up was just part of the contract, as they should provide internet 24/7 and the ADSL service was unavailable for four hours.

Considering you tested just the local server, I would.

I don't know how good your computer would be,but if it's a gift, accept it with good grace, maybe? Windows 7 service pack 1 home premium ain't too bad either. ;)

Currently happens to me as well; videos load very slowly and sometimes end prematurely.

I'm sure every other speedtest on this page was local too.

You know, you've piqued my interests. When I get home again on Tuesday, I'll run a speedtest with a Brazilian server, a British server, and an Australian server and see if the results are still impressive - my reasons for these countries being they are common in the online Duke scene. ;)

When I was out in Ontario a couple years ago visiting family that I haven't seen in 20 years, I had to go from my usual internet speed to 1 Mbps download. It was quite shocking, but I guess when you live in the middle of nowhere, you kind of have to make do with the kind of internet you can find.

Still have to remember though, at one time I was using a 14K modem, which is even slower than 1 Mbps. I guess with these internet speeds of today you kind of forget what it was like before the internet exploded into what it is today. Back in the 1990s it was quite different than it is today. Speeds of 14K weren't a big deal back then, but now I probably couldn't handle going back to something like that.

It's definitely a step up from what I have now, so I wasn't going to do anything but accept it. The question was rhetorical.

I have 16 GB of RAM. Mainly use it for a RAM drive.

You know, down the road RAM will replace SSDs as the storage of choice. Kind of how SSDs replaced hard drives. RAM is insanely fast

SSDs haven't replaced hard drives. As for using RAM as a storage... SSD is costly, but SDRAM is even more so.

Just like with anything though, everything comes down in price eventually.

I'd admit they haven't completely replaced hard drives, but with them being cheaper, people are using SSDs for an OS drive. Maybe not for storage. Kind of forgot about that.

Yeah SSDs are not even close to replacing traditional HDs.

I'm not keen on having separate drives since I care only about games running better. My OS runs fast enough. So I'll wait to go full SSD.

So... I decided to take a cat from a shelter next week. Sort of a big thing for me. I hope I can handle it.

Cleaned out some old SATA cables from my case. I decided to move some of my hard drives over to my other computer and use that as a file server of sorts. There is a lot more room for airflow now.

Decided to rearrange some equipment cause I know the cat would have loved to 'play' with turntable on a top shelf.

SSDs are miles away as yet, it's much cheaer to use mechanical drives. What I did (and my friend followed) was to buy two WD Black drives (2TB) for around £100 each and run them in RAID0, it'll keep up with most SSDs. The Price/Performance/Capacity ratio makes SSD nothing more than an expensive novelty at the present time.

I am going to convert my Pentium MMX 233 to take an IDE-to-CF though as 8GB CF cards are cheaper than 20-year-old hard drives and likely more reliable.
