Since I use my PC for watching blurays and playing videogames there isn't much point in going Linux.
As you know, Blue Ray and HD DVDs have an encryption on it. It also checks where the movie was sold and where you are probably watching it. Those BD+ can not be programmed on an open source software. Since most Linux based software is open source, watching a high quality movies is a pain in the neck or simply not possible. But this is not Linux' fault though.
The Big Brother Digital Protected All Knowing Blue Ray movies can only be watched in the country you bought it. Meaning don't pick them up in the US, while the comp is an official Canadian computer operated with an super fine legal Windows OS. I can change countries five times, i.e. Canada, US and Germany, then my own movies will not play.
As for games, yep, no games.
Yet, Linux for on the road, with my little CAD, word, email, texting and Scype - it works. and this is on a very old old old old lap top
