I believe a radio commercial here uses some music from SimCity Societies.
Then I also think I have herd the first 8 seconds of Mark Knight's "Distortion" on a TV commercial.

It's also in the intro to a DragonForce album. I think I remember asking Mark about it and he said it's a stock sound effect.

Because Lucas technically can't reshoot to add additional scenes. There are lots of movies changing lots of stuff after several months of release because they have additional scenes available. The problem with Lucas is not changing itself, but unwillingness to have several cuts available. ME3 won't have the problem of being old like shit to do changes, and unvailable "original cut".

But adding extra scenes for, say, a director's cut is different because that "extra" material usually consists of stuff that was meant to be there in the first place: they're not shooting new material simply because a bunch of crybaby fans were unhappy with something.

The last news item on the front page is over a month old. We need to think of a new one.

Make some news then. The news only reports what happens (US news makes up things they think would be cool). Do something really exciting!

Or because director have a different opinion about some scenes now, instead of then, which is bullshit. And what Lucas is doing is not a "director's cut", he simply changes scenes, not adding something because studio didn't allow him to. Either way, there should still be original version released. ME3 will provide that, so you can decide for yourself how to play/view.

If they were so willing to give into pressure then perhaps they also thought the ball was dropped on the ending. Had they believed in the ending they wouldn't have give in.

In the case of Lucas, and in my opinion Spielberg but to a lesser extent, he is just an idiot. He's not a great filmmaker. He got lucky and had a decent idea, and he had people around him who made the films better. The prequels saw immense control from Lucas, much more than he had on the original films, and they are terrible. However, you can see how Lucas' control affects the films by comparing Empire to Jedi. Empire saw the least amount of involvement from Lucas, and is arguably the best film of the series. While Jedi saw his highest amount of influence, which you can see by the funny little cute characters like Ewoks. The dude is a total hack and he wouldn't be where he is today if other people hadn't countered his bullshit tacky filmmaking in the past. It's just the best way I can put it, I mean THX-1138 is a great idea, but a shitty film, and American Graffiti is just garbage.

Well, like a few people here, I'm working on some exciting stuff. Unfortunately, also like a few people here, I'm keeping it top secret Posted Image

@Fox: That doesn't really make english look harder than any other language. Every language has it's own contexts and homophones.

I'm actually a lot less pissed off by them adding content so long as it's very conservative (like, showing how the Normandy rescues the squad members left on Earth and then takes off or something) than by them caving in to pressure. This is a matter of principle, not content. It's like Comedy Central censoring South Park to appease Muslims.

I think the problem is that video games are not as much under the control of one person as movies or books are. Someone less interested in the ending than pleasing raging fans may overrule someone who thinks otherwise.

That is not the problem people have with the ending. If they had ended it à la Star Wars or LotR with celebrations, weddings and blown up Death Stars the raging crowd would be silent now. It'd have been extremely lazy but the raging crowd would've had no trouble with it. They're spoiled little shits.

I think the obvious problem with the prequels was that they were just like the original three. It's just that what seemed cool and new back then seems silly and childish now.

And THX-1138 sucks.

I felt that the original Mass Effect ending was fine. Aside from some inconsistencies involving characters (the people with you who seem to die are on the Normandy when it crashes, etc), I felt that it was a well made ending. I'm looking forward to more story from them in the extended ending, but I still stand that the original ending was good.

I don't think they were like the originals at all. I actually cared about the characters, I wanted to be goddamned Han Solo man. I was like 7 when Phantom Menace came out, and I was psyched, I was a huge Star Wars fan. I skipped school to see it opening day, and boy was I disappointed. The magic just wasn't there, Anakin was such a little shit.

At any rate, this is going to go down as the most mind blowing ending to any video game or form of media I have ever seen.

Indeed.

This is so much worse than what Lucas could ever even dream of doing to his films.

Fucking fanboys just couldn't shut the fuck up.

Fanboys aren't the one to blame, Bioware is. Lucas is still a shithead and I still think that what he's doing is worse. If Bioware can provide original ending along with extended one, then they're better than Lucas. You can hate all you want about "new" ending or why it was made, but if I can replay the game in "original" form then it doesn't matter.

I fought over this issue with someone at the Bioware forum. One of these "raging fanboys" (well, a fangirl in this case) wanted an option to reject the Catalyst entirely. (I suggested simulating this by just quitting the game.) I never understood why anyone would want that, seeing how you came all the way there to defeat the Reapers and then you reject the Catalyst's offer to do just that.

In regard to the Extended Cut, I'm looking forward to these answered questions Jeff mentions. I had questions that were no answered in the end of the game and that was less than perfect. When I get home from vacation I'll have to play through with my other character (and maybe with my first character again).

Your gonna hate me for this, but even though I was in the same position as you, and was (and still am) HUGE Star Wars fan, I LOVED Phantom Menace. Still do. Yes you read that right. Darth Maul, the final fight, I loved every minute of it. Yes Jar-Jar sucked more balls than a porn star, and his leader, who's name escapes me was impossible to understand, but even so I really enjoyed it.

Yes I know I'm gonna get majorly flamed for that, because of that I feel I should throw in my opinion that the prequels aren't as good as the originals. And yes I mean that lol. :(

EDIT: Oh I forgot to say that yes, even when I was younger little Anakin annoyed me. And that turned to full out cringing as I grew. :(

I think Darth Maul is pretty cool, and I like Qui-Gon. I don't think liking the films is flameworthy unless you believe they're better than the originals. I've been meaning to check out the Phantom Edit and Attack of the Phantom fan edits, since they're apparently a lot better.

I definitely agree (except for the romance part; I never pursued a relationship in the series). The bigger the personal sacrifice, the more heroic that makes Shepard. That this appeals to me is no surprise. As I kid, and still, the thing I loved the most about Spider-Man was that it didn't matter to him that often everyone seemed to hate him. He'd still try to save the day no matter how many bottles, curses or bullets were thrown at him as thanks for his selfless efforts.
