And I wouldn't have a problem with that answer. Hell, I wouldn't mind him saying "well, USA are shitty and by renouncing my citizenship I'm making myself a pure canadian. Fuck USA". But he isn't aswering why. Sure, it is felt that reason is ideological/political, but he still denied it.

It's not the reason that is bothering me, it's the lack of it with a disadvantage of wasting time on something you have no reason to do. I mean, lifting my ass from a sofa is enough reason for me not bothering doing something like thus. And don't forget about whole bureaucracy of the process.

I don't understand the question. You're saying I have no reason to give up the citizenship, and I should just keep it just in case? I'm not really looking for reasons to keep it. I want to get rid of it.

I can think of a bunch of reasons not to return to the US aside from working or living there (two of the three things the citizenship does for you). For example, education is way better here in Canada. You only have to wait in a hospital waiting room for 12 hours, versus in America, any surgery costs big money (didn't the Simpsons list heart surgery around $30,000 or so). In Canada, most of it's covered.

No, I'm saying if you have no reason to give up then it's not worth going through the bureaucratic hassle.

And "I don't want it" is not the reason for giving up something, it's the reason not to acquire. If you already have something then there must be strong enough reasons to throw it away. Thus far, you haven't provided those. Not that you must, but then don't dance around "I just don't want it" and say "I have other reasons which I'm not gonna tell".

I don't know. I consider "I don't want it" to be a good enough reason to get rid of something. Hoarding is a real problem, Burnett. Do you have piles and piles of lint sitting around in your house? Do you need an intervention?

That has basically confirmed my suspicions. Your primary motivation is ideological. It's not something you need to be shy about. You annoyed more people trying to cover it up than just saying it outright. :)

Though I personally wouldn't pull my healthcare cost figures from The Simpsons. (I have insurance, so I'm sure it wouldn't cost that much.)

Isn't there a bit of a difference between the intangible concept of citizenship and the very tangible concept of... well, lint?

That's why I throw away most of the useless stuff. But citizenship won't be lying in my house taking some space.

Jeff is streamlining his life. I don't think Canada is all that, but I see no problem with him making this decision.

Well, not that it's that important, but doing something like this for no apparent reason is strange enough to question about.

$30k doesn't sound so unlikely. One round of chemo for my mum was over $150k.

Now on a buzz due to ordering what is possibly the last thing to go into my console stuff collection (funny how hoarding was brought up eh?) - an EverDrive (http://krikzz.com/everdrive-md.html) flash cart. Damn, I can't wait to play with this thing, I built my own flash system years ago but it was slow and rarely worked so I'll be yelling excitedly for hours when this arrives no doubt.

Less than 1000 posts until I have 100% ego! Muahahaha. The only person ahead of me is DT by 600, but he's been a part of this forum for 2 more years than I have. They should replace the 'ego' meter with a 'no life' meter Posted Image

3.7 messages per day is hardly worthy of a "no life" title. I'm more disturbed by the fact that I've been most active in General Discussion forums rather than Duke related. 2 years ago it was DNF at least. I just can't get into whole Duke3d usermap/mods playing stuff. Too bad since I played those ten years ago. Now is the time to pick that stuff up again.

More and more lately I have been playing games and never finishing them. I am used to finishing games before really moving on to a new one but lately I have been starting games that just weren't able to keep my attention through to the end. Either games are getting less fun for me or I'm getting more distracted by other games.

I have a rule not to play several single player campaign games at once. Works pretty well for me, since I'm finishing almost all games, story-wise. Don't see much problem in distractions as I'm not keen on playing "right away" just released games. Can't understand some people whining about certain months having lots of games when you can play game whenever you want.

My grandfather had a gun that looked almost exactly like that. I never got to shoot it, though.

Me too, I never start a new game or even buy one until I have at least finished the one I am on. My brother on the other hand constantly downloads pc games and never finishes any as he is constantly torn between beating a game he might be stuck on or slightly bored with and seeing what a new one has to offer. Also I don't like switching between different game mechanics and controls too soon.

As this seems to mostly be a recent phenomenon, I attribute it to Steamitis - a tendency to purchase games that one has no particular interest in or immediate want to play, save for a major limited sale price that Steam offers (e.g. 80% off) for said games.

Edit: Shit, I just realized I split an infinitive in the first sentence. Oh well, I never paid any mind to that stupid rule anyway.

I have another rule for that. :) I will buy on a sale only those games that I have in my wishlist. Although, I remember buying Witcher on sale, but it was around the time I finished playing another game so I played Witcher right after download was complete.

Apparently Black Mesa isn't so dead...

If their Official Facebook Page here reaches 20,000 Likes, then they will release "some exciting new media"

I wonder what it could be though.

Never understood why I don't like reading things, but I visit forums. Usually I just stick to threads where there's lots of pictures. Reading thousands of words makes my brain hurt. Might have something to do with low reading comprehension. I remember I had a grade 1 comprehension at the end of grade 6. Not sure what it was at the end of high school, but I only got 50% on the diploma exam. There was a reading and a writing part. Both parts I got a 50%. Had a good course mark (85%), however, I bombed the exam. Still passed the course though since the diploma is only half the mark.

So, for the past three or so months, I've worked up this regimen of push-ups to the point where I do 300 a day (3 sets of 100 consistent reps). This morning I figured I'd do a bit of experimenting after my normal sets and try an extra set using my knuckles, since I heard that's supposed to reduce the stress on your wrists. Incredible how one very minor change can completely throw your shit out of whack. I just barely managed to do 25. Granted, this was after I'd already cranked out 300, but still...25 in a normal position wouldn't have been anything.

I could never do that many pushups, all my strength is in my lower body. :|

I can't do pushups. Maybe a half pushup, but not the full ones.

That sucks man, like hell. I can do like 50 pushups if I want, maybe even more.

I know you have some problems and all that but I never would have pegged you for having low reading comprehension. I've seen you posting stuff for years and aside from the occasional odd comment you seem to be doing pretty well, and this is coming from someone with a history of reading comprehension opposite to yours (I was tested at grade 11 level when I was in grade 2).

I have pretty high reading comprehension as well. I was always getting kicked out of the library for trying to check out high school level books. (Why the hell does the school system think it needs to hold you back?)

I've been slowly working on pushups, myself. I couldn't even do one a few months ago, but now I can do about 5, and up to 10 if I'm really into it that day. I'm a pussy, I know. Heheh.
