Every rich idiot I know has a Mac, iPhone, or iPad. Though my point was more about what Ripemanewone was getting at, although he was much more eloquent than I.
I wasn't really trolling, that is my opinion in a nutshell. I had an Mp3 player at one, it was a Sansa Fuze, which was pretty rad. Then I accidentally broke it (stupid stupid stupid.) So my brother gave me an old iPod, and I find it so annoying and unintuitive for someone who actually knows how to use a computer. The iPod basically says "I'm gonna give you a hell of a time unless you just use our product the way we want you to. USE ITUNES!!!" And that is my intrinsic issue with Apple products, its their way or the highway.
iTunes blows. What the hell is up with the iPod's filesystem? It's like someone got a retard to write an encryption system for directories.

I use iTunes to collect my music on a normal PC. I don't have an iPod. The filing system is as I have set it up, alphabetically, by artist with sub folders for the CDs. Songs I get through iTunes get loaded in a normal file system. Now I am curious how iPod sorts the songs.

Basically, at least on older iPods, it just randomly renames your MP3's, then drops them into a randomly named folder. It's so stupid.

I hated the Sansa Fuze. Hated, hated, HATED it. Most annoying interface ever, and it broke not because of any fault of my own, but because of some stupid software glitch. Since then, I've used the Sony Walkman with absolutely no problem.

I was planning on buying a Sansa Fuze v2 because Rockbox was already supported, but as I was mulling it the week changed and that was the very week the item was discontinued and its price doubled on Amazon.
I own a Sansa Fuze+ 8GB with an 8GB class 4 microSDHC (got a great deal on the card). It's slow as hell to start up, I encounter USB connection problems (may be my PC's fault), it has annoying touch-capacitive controls, it's even slower (hours!) to re-index the contents, album art is not supported for FLAC ("Add it in Windows Media Player's Library instead!"), and Rockbox support is only just now starting to look viable, but it plays FLAC and OGG, it has a kickass FM radio tuner and recorder, it uses plain old folders on its media which I can utilize just fine using the scripts and organizing program for my music that I authored myself, and it supports fully working .m3u playlists generated by tags and categorizations of said program. It works great.

Have you used something like this http://www.mp3tag.de/en/index.html to edit the tags of your songs, before putting it in the iPod?

Plays FLAC, doesn't force you to use iTunes, etc
Personally I bought a Zen Xfi2 last year, the sound is great but the speed of the interface (and the interface itself) is pretty meh. When there's a list of albums, all with their own album covers, scrolling is slow. Volume control is with a small supersensitive slider on the touchscreen, where 12 is the volume you want, 11 is too low, 13 is too much. Oh boy. Also the locking mechanism (or rather the unlocking mechanism) happens via the touchscreen.
What that is concerned, I wish it was more like my old iPod. Yeah it's true that the iPod has flaws but you can't argue that the interface for it (by which I mean the clickwheel) is fantastic. Well, you could try to argue that the clickwheel sucks, but you'd be wrong.

That will not help, what Wolfe meant is that when you put music in your iPod it gets saved with a random name on the filesystem. The ID3 tags remain intact though so if you ever need to get your music back, you can mostly just copy the files and use a program to give them proper names again.
I'm not sure if this post still holds true though, maybe the workings of the iPod have changed now

I usually listen to my iPod with headphones if I'm in bed or something, or use a cassette adapter to play it through a stereo or car stereo. I'm with ya on not being able to hear though, a lot of times I'll just put one earbud in.

My sisterr had an issue like that with her Fuze, but she didn't update the firmware and stuff like I did. Sansa promptly replaced it though.

MP3Tag is a great program, but yeah, Sang is right. My tags are immaculate. I don't know if it does this on newer iPods, but my experience it does it on all of them up to the touch screens. Mine is a second gen. It has all the same basic mechanics of the newest non-touch models, just without fancy fluff. (Which Apple just loves they have the fluffiest products.)
And I actually don't like the click-wheel really. I'd rather have up-down-left-right buttons, but I'm a luddite.

Perhaps it's just the reckless consumer in me, but I feel that if I should have to get a product replaced less than a year after ownership to make it work again, that product isn't worth owning. My Walkman has lasted me a good two years, and I plan to keep it for as long as I can.

Also, I switched tonight permanently to TOR with DNT+ . The heaviest trackers so far tonight are Microsoft and Google - both blocked.
