Seagate burns me again. My desktop has been bluescreening in the past few weeks and it's gradually regressed to the point where Dropbox and Skype were complaining about Disk I/O errors. Chkdsk /f /r /b /x on the 250 GB system drive froze while executing on the next reboot. Now it won't boot and a Linux boot CD got stuck in an infinite loop trying to mount the troublemaker. I'm going to evacuate the small amount of useful data (and my SteamApps) from it, nuke with GParted, and give it one more chance with a fresh Win7 install. (Funnily, Windows' "Check for solution" told me I had two different viruses/trojans, yet MSE found nothing and an AVG boot CD also crashed.)

It's a shame my rig doesn't have PATA ports or I would hook one of TX's old drives right up.

I should buy an SSD.

So I nuked the system drive. In the middle of the Windows 7 installation, it tells me that the installer cannot access the installation files it copied to the drive. Fortunately it gave me the option of installing to one of my storage drives.

Another drive goes in the cardboard box of shame and failure.

One of the dumbest things I ever did stoned was let my brother tape a quarter to a dead, opened up 7200RPM hard drive. Half a minute of laughter later and the next thing I know it's embedded in my wall.

rather funny actually, remember 52x cd-rom drives, they never got faster because they broke the sound limit made a sonic boom and shattered the media, also happens in CNC routing if your that silly to run at a certain RPM cept it will be sharpened and fragmented aluminum flying around the factory.

Wow, Saruman and Sauron had no chance. Though I feel sorry for the Fellowship... Duke didn't really need their help at all.

So I fired a pistol for the first time yesterday (at the shooting range, of course), first I went for 50 shots with a Glock 19, and then a Bersa Thunder-380 (kind of looks like a Walther PPK and is really light).

Shit's harder than it looks. Sure, you can aim down the iron sights but it won't actually hit where you want it to if your hand isn't steady enough when the gun fires. Most of my shots were wide, up and to the left. At least it was consistent.

It just takes practice. After a while you learn how to compensate and get it on target. Though to be consistent on your first go-round is good.
