I would, word is right now the Bow River is being affected as well, this could mean Down Town may be surrounded by water, so ...

Maybe they'll give me the day off work tomorrow if I can't get out of my house or walk to the LRT to go to work.

Wouldn't you be more likely to have problems if you stayed indoors? Think I'd bail out of that city pretty damn fast, I can't swim. Hope your friend is OK.

Your (in)ability to swim is irrelevant during the flood.

Exactly. The current would move so fast that you'd just get swept away. Not to mention, trying to stay afloat in the muddy water. If the mud gets in your throat you're done for.

Well I got the day off today from work. Apparently half the city is under water. I'm fine though.

I never knew there was a difference between gender and sex. But I have an excuse of being non-native speaker.

Or make for a more painfull death. Back then many sailors would choose not to learn how to swim so they would die quickly in water.

Sex can mean either gender or the act...not sure there is really a distinction beyond that.

My swimming skills aren't that great. I took some lessons back when I was a kid, but I only got to the third level or so out of eight I think. I remember the top level was white.

Sex is biological; gender is cultural.

That is a pretty interesting claim. One that I'm not sure you could defend.

Are you saying that a person may identify as whatever gender one chooses to despite one's biological sex? If so, that lacks a basis in science and possibly language.

Of course, I don't care for such alterations of language. "gender" and "sex" are synonyms.

So according to this eye prescription calculator I used, my vision is 20/100. I thought it was worse than that.

Absolutely.

Some people can't help it though. One of my close friends is transgendered. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Me too, I have a few transgendered and/or gender dysphoric friends. Not fun times.

Can't transgendered be okay with its body?

But in order for the biological sex thing to work for the thing it is biologically intended for (ie. reproduction) you of course need a male and a female... so there is a biological reason, not only cultural, why those genders exist.

I wouldn't mind being another biological sex, but I can't say I'm tormented about how things are.

I would not want to be a female, the internal plumbing of a woman requires too much maintenance.

On the other hand... it's much easier to have sex with men while you're a woman.

I can't believe how fast time goes by guys, it's spooky. Also I know I'm just ignoring the discussion above, but I have a feeling that it's fuel and I'm holding lit matches so, I'm gonna steer clear.

That's why God gave us Astroglide.

Obviously I haven't meant the sex act itself but the precedures leading to it.

Got a nice call from my boss at work who wanted to check up on me (as well as others who live downtown). She said that I could have as much time off as I want until it was safe enough to come back to work and the flooding situation has been handled.

Of course, but I would say that's a minority from my experience with transgendered folks.

Aren't transgendered supposed to be even less than gay? And here you're saying like you know quite a few. Do you have gazillion friends?

What does this mean I don't even.

And yes, I do know a few. One of my friends is transgender, and another is gender dysphoric, and I've met some of their friends in the same boat. ZOMG JIMMY HAS A SOCIAL LIFE

It means that either people casually say to you they're transgendered or you have dozens of close friends.

I don't imply you were lying or anything like that, but I'm surprised you know several and it's a normal occurrence to you.

(shit, stupid english language)

Not really, there's just less of them.

Gay guys can be kinda slutty, though.
