Bees are cool. Wasps suck ass. I was in Sequoia National Park and I got stung by some kind of paper wasp.

It hurt for three days and I still have a scar from the insane, week long itch fest that was ground zero.

I've never been stung by a bee though so I am always fucking terrified of that happening. ;)

I remember being stung by one back when I was around 21 or so. Somehow managed to get a bee's nest in my house. Anyways, it kind of feels like a sharp razor blade or something. Really hurts.

Well, I haven't cut myself with a razor blade either but I see where this is going anyway.

I guess I should mention that both my parents get allergic reactions to bee stings which is also another part of my fear.

It's not that painful. But it depends on a depth of course.

my cat is a permanent indoor cat. she's fine because that's what she's used to. when i do let her outside she won't go more than twenty feet from the door and the only things she really wants to do when she is outside is to go roll around in the dust on the sun heated patio and drink water out of the rain bucket.

i'm the bee whisperer. all members of the bee, wasp, hornet, etc. family are attracted to me for some reason. If i sit still long enough i'll have them crawling all over me.
they get pretty aggressive about wanting to land on me despite my efforts to shoo them away. most of the time i just let them land so they can check me out then i shoo them off once they're satisfied i'm not what they thought i was. (flower, dead corpse, who knows what)
i've only been stung a few times my entire life and that's because i either stepped on one barefoot, knelt on one that was hiding in the tall grass, and grabbed one when i was picking logs out of a wood pile.

The thing is, I would need to get a cat on vacation so I could tend to him while he grows. That's about month.

Why not get an adult cat from an animal shelter?

Quote

Should get a female then. Damn, I just realised I would need to have some medical crap go through with a kitty.

I have 2 castrated male cats, not that big of a deal. Females would also need to be sterilized if they're outdoor cats... otherwise you're gonna end up with a lot more cats than you bargained for.

Don't care if the cat is black. ;)

Haha yeah one of my cats is black too i'm not racist

I don't think a cat would like to be kept indoors all the time no more than a bird would like to be caged, or a fish bowled

My cat only goes outside if we (meaning family) are outside as well, even then he's scared of pretty much everything outside including the wind... so when it gets windy he panicks and wants to go back in. So uh, yeah he likes to be kept indoors...

I didn't even know we had a shelter. But I'm still not into grown ups.

Hmmm, shelter have cats and other stuff. But I wonder if I have an allergy cause, well, I remember having it around some cats. But maybe it was more like dust related and not animals themselves.

One thing about shelter is that you can come in and say "give me the most boring and lazy cat".

Well the thing is if you get a kitten it'll also grow up eventually so that makes no sense

Stop posting cat pics, my sister has already threatened to get me a cat and I really don't want that commitment.

I think you guys really overestimate the amount of time and care an average cat requires.

(note I'm not saying just leave it to itself and let it rot but it's not like a dog that wants almost constant attention)

Cats are barely any work...Honestly, I used to have pet rats and they needed more attention.

Whelp, just burned myself on my laptops AC adapter! The barrel plug was hot as fuck. I guess that's the end of that!

These Toshiba 120W adapters are clearly not up to the superior quality of the Asus adapters I SHOULD be using...

It's not that I don't like spiders, it's that I don't like those kind of spiders.

That question somehow reminds me on scorpions ... those I actually like, some are harmless

I think it has finally gotten to the point where I need new disc drive(s). My two older ones aren't recognizing media all the time. I'm fairly certain it isn't the media and I don't think it is the OS (Windows 8). I think it is the drives being old. Maybe they need to be flashed with a new firmware but I can't find any online (they aren't real name brand drives). I think I will have to break down and get a new drive at some point. No need for a Blu-Ray burner/reader, but that is an option for me since the drives are finally getting down to affordable prices.

Here we are, having a nice conversation about giant spiders resting on people's vaginas and you just had to come and ruin it.

I was going to say that after having three monitors with Nvidia Surround, it's really hard to go back to one monitor. Screen size feels so small compared to what I have now.

I used to have two monitors. I miss the other one....I want to get another one when I have money and the desk space again.
