I have heard that the Palestinian region was fine until the British kicked all the Jews out of Europe and gave them Israel.* There were no problems until Zionist took over the government and are bent on destroying all Arabs in the region. The majority party in Israel is hell bent on conquest of the region. They are not open to dialog, they are not open to tolerating Arabs, they are not open to peace.


*It isn't fair to say they kicked ALL the Jews out...but most of Europe wanted them gone, Hitler wasn't an outlier and anti-Semitism is still very much present in Europe and around the world. Ahmadinejad is not the only Holocaust denier, he just happens to be the leader of a Muslim country. There are HISTORIANS in the UK who write books published by large publishing companies that outright deny the Holocaust. We only hear about Ahmadinejad because he is batshit insane in general.

The region was not "fine" by any means. It suffered from the same colonial revolts as nearly all other British colonies. Jews were regularly massacred. During the Second World War the spiritual leader of Palestinians Muslims openly supported Hitler. The Arabs opposed the UN partition plan while the Jews supported it. Israel has been fighting purely defensive wars since its foundation. The current policy is a result of frustration: Israelis simply don't believe that anything good will come out of further concessions. Even so, only a tiny minority is in favor of the idea of annexing the West Bank.

The UN resolution that was supposed to found Israel and Palestinegave a disproportionate amount of land to Israel while causing significant relocation of Palestinians. It was a terrible idea and the more I read about it, the more ironic it looks that the UN assembly voted to make Palestine a member. The countries that made up the UN in the beginning just wanted the Jews out of Europe and felt bad about that whole genocide thing.

Israel continues to oppress the indigenous people of the region. They have dreams of glory and restoring what was never actually theirs. Evangelical Christians (through the US) encourage them. The Nation of Israel, even in the high point of the monarchy never had control of the amount of land they were promised in the Bible but that isn't stopping people from thinking that they deserve it.

If a person said that God told them they owned this mansion, we call them insane or a cult.

I think that there is a slight difference between Israel as a nation and the Jewish faith with all their derivatives sects and cults.

Judging by faith the religion is extreme prejudice against non jews. If you look down on the rest of the world do not be surprised the rest of the world looks down on you, especially if your god can't deliver on those lofty promises, and unlike Christianity and Islam lack an array of brutal leaders to enforce god's promised action.

Judging as a nation, the Roman Empire tried to remove Jews from their territory and this mission was handed down all the way down to the British Empire. Unfortunately, along came the Nazis and got carried away with this mission and the 'world' searched for another solution and cancelled this two thousand year old tradition. It was convenient to establish arc enemies inside a vast enemy territory and hope for everlasting war and therefore indirect dominance.

In short, it's not black and white.

Eh, you serious with this? The Six-Day War was a defensive war even if Israel fired the first shots. The surrounding Arab states were only about 24 hours from attacking Israel when Israel decided to take the initiative by crushing the Egyptian air force. The partition plan was very sound. Israel would have gained the areas where Jews were in the majority while the Arab state would have gained those areas with Arab majorities. In addition, Israel would have gained the Negev desert (uninhabited then) to accommodate the expected influx of Jewish immigrants. This was all perfectly reasonable. (And of course the Arabs would have opposed any partition so whether the plan was considered fair wasn't even relevant to them.)

Israeli declaration of independence was followed by every surrounding Arab state (plus Iraq) invading the (then tiny) country. Can't get more defensive than that.
