I just saw Avatar (which was incredibly long).
One of my brothers commented that he felt it was wrong because there were cats with human boobs. My response is does James Cameron have a furry fetish?

By chance I survived almost exactly this situation when I was four years old.
(The 'knife' was of pure metal and fit perfectly into the socket.)
Now I am an electrical engineer.

I remember when I was in 1st grade, I was being stupid and was playing with a socket and I got in trouble - the principal ended up telling me that a few weeks earlier, they had an electrician die from one of the faulty sockets in the school. :lol:

I was in 8th grade. The 7th and 8th graders watched bits of things happening in a classroom...after school I was about to tell my (much) younger cousins but a teacher stopped me. Over protective people...everyone knew by the end of the day. It isn't like the kids were going to be any less fucked up anyway. That was the beginning of the era where everyone has a cell phone and no one talks to anyone.

No amount of censoring from reality will save anyone...

To change the subject....
My dad worked at a funeral home while he was working on getting some certification for being a funeral director (who changes careers in their late 50's?). Anyway, he lost his job yesterday and after he told the reason (some younger guy who is an embalmer and certified etc wanted to work there) so they laid off my dad, I said you should have said "They found a cure for death so they laid us off." That would have been the better way of approaching the whole thing....

I think this means I shouldn't expect my parents to help pay for gas so I can drive back to school.

Well, the young guy has certification and more experience than my dad so he deserves the job...but yeah, it does suck that my dad can't get a break as far as employment. My parents are still making it though. They only have one more kid to kick out of the house and she is just a year and a half away from college.
My mom's job was saved by the generosity of many people (she teaches maths and science at a private school). So long as the school remains open, she will have a job...

And then there is my friend who has pretty much no money and will be lucky to pay his mortgage this month....yeah, buying banks didn't save shit.

I joked that he could always get back into Real Estate...but the housing market is in the shitter right now.

I didn't know this, but my dad apparently has a minor in education to go with his philosophy degree from his time in a seminary. He is applying to be a substitute teacher for the local school districts which I find ridiculous since I can't see my dad honestly being a teacher, even just being a sub (which basically means he is a warm body). Part of me can imagine him being like the one guy in some stereotypical movie about a white guy teaching at a in the hood school....except it doesn't have a happy hollywood ending.

My dad has done fairly well in his jobs in personal sales (insurance, housing etc) but he just doesn't get along with bosses which is bad when you aren't the boss (and can't afford to be your own boss). Things will work out but it is just a shame that he is too young to retire for how much money he made.
