Yeah. Dead Micky C is scary. Considering a stinky lump of yellow annihilated him and he is now a vicious ghost hunting this forum seeking revenge. You are not the only one scared of Micky C. Posted Image

He was going to kill me not long ago. I wasn't a very good Shadow Warrior

Oh dear - run. You committed a cardinal sin. May the dark forces of Shadow Warriors have short legs. Posted Image

Yeah Micky C is a jerk. Thank god he doesn't hang around here anymore. He was arrogant and always thought polymer was the best thing since sliced bread, despite its many glaring flaws.
I'm a software mode mapper myself.

The quote that sums up the Star Wars Holiday Special is "it's so bad that it actually comes around to good again, but passes it right up"

It was this awful idea from the 70's and should have been wiped out of existence but the Internet didn't let it happen. Thanks to file sharing and bootleggers, you too could possess a copy of the Star Wars Holiday Special.

No proper release of theatrical cuts of 4-6 episodes is a way worse offence than Holiday Special ever will be. Especially considering all the changes that were made over these past years.

Well, one was a last breath of the 70s variety holiday show done with kind of permission of Lucas. The other was just Lucas being a douche.

So I find out that there's going to be a Comic Con in my town in Australia, and Richard Dean Anderson and William Shatner are going to be there. Being huge Stargate and Star Trek fans, I got all excited about being able to go down there, be in the same room with them, and maybe get an autograph and/or photograph.

Then I look up the prices, and 1 autograph is $50 Posted Image It's probably 5 seconds worth of work. Seriously? They can't be a little bit reasonable? I mean I would have thought $10 is starting to push it.
So ultimately to get into the event and get photographs and autographs from both of them, it would cost $280, plus having the day ruined due to waiting in long queues. So I've decided not to go and am really disheartened now.

It's probably worth like $500 on ebay?

Who needs this stupid autograph anyway? Maybe having bluray or poster autographed is cool but charge even 10$ for this? No way in hell.

For 50$ you could buy whole season of original series in hd. For $280... How many new-gen seasons are out on bluray, 3? Then buy all TOS+NG that are available. (you probably already have those, though)

Hmm, I should probably get around to acquiring 3rd season of TOS.

Yeah, it's much more worth while spending the money on something useful or important than some paper with ink on it.

Shouldn't "worth while" in this case be written as "worthwhile"?

Star Wars Holiday Special
Discussion over

I can't understand how anyone could be waiting for some "Holiday Special" based on a full-length movie? Kids - maybe, but surely every grown-up knew it would be pretty idiotic given the idea?

Fair enough. But it should have smelled for all above 14-18 as a disaster before even being shown.

Wait a minute... You're like 40+ now? Jeez, and here I though I was chating with some 19 year old. Oh well...

i thought that was common knowledge to anyone who bothers to read my posts. i've stated several times that i've been married for over 20 years and i spent 20 years in the military before i became damaged and wore out my usefulness so they discarded me like so much trash.

being an idiot knows no age boundaries, so i guess it's easy to think i'm in an age group other than octogenarian

back to the previous topic - [granpa mode] times were different back then. no computers & internet, Atari 2600 & VCR's were relatively new and very expensive for the time, three channels on the TV to choose from -four if you count PBS- but it was only on a couple hours a day. So TV was a big part of home entertainment. There were no real video games arcades yet, so going to the movies was one of the more popular things to do when looking for entertainment outside the house. [/granpa mode]

that star wars special was a big deal at the time. the movie was a big hit, the tv network hyped it all up, there's really nothing competing against it on other channels, so anybody even remotely interested in star wars probably sat at home and tried to watch the first five minutes before shutting it off and changing the channel or opening a newspaper.

That's why it was panned as a big flop and goes down in tv history as a disaster. if it happened in this day and age nobody would even notice.

for someone who professes being pc and open minded about allowing people to be themselves Achenar sure has taken issue with your persona and feels it necessary to mention something about it every chance he gets

I have no problem with Cathy's altering persona, though I do find it very curious. At your convenience please directly quote the post I made where I claimed to be "politically correct".

You know, I'm not an expert on Internet etiquette, but couldn't this topic be construed as harassment?

here's an example. there are many more scattered through this thread, skirt length, more clueless voters, that thread from awhile back involving heated discussion over homosexuality acceptance vs. gay bashers, but i'm not hunting them all down

being curious is one thing. just ask and you'll get the answer
constantly pointing it out leaves the impression that there is a problem
