So there's this 25th anniversary Fox special and some guy actually spotted a few screenshots of X-Files that has been remastered in HD. The series that is. Not the movies.

Finally got around to installing the Diablo 3 beta...couldn't join a server since they are all full. Turns out that if you have a life outside of video games, you aren't allowed to play any (online).

Turns out they were still doing some server side work. Still, there are too many multiplayer games out there that just aren't welcoming to people who don't play 24/7/365 online.

Can you play Diablo 3 beta offline?

Not that I know of. Requires a Battle.net account, which requires an internet connection.

I thought the main problem with Diablo 3 was that you must maintain a constant internet connection.

not a problem, the new anti piracy trend, apparently even if you play single player. Will see.

I still can't go online anywhere, and got to go to bed. So, one game less to worry for me.Posted Image

Diablo 3 has a feature where you can download and stream game content as you play. You could install 200 MB of the game initally, and the rest as you play it. Beats waiting for patches.

Had a lot of fun playing the Diablo 3 beta with my brother. We played it for the better part of Saturday. Got to level 13 and decided to call that good enough until the game comes out proper. Well, I did, I intend to continue to play as my Demon Hunter when the full game comes out.

The biggest problem with the "constant Internet connection" is that when their servers go down, no one can play. The Battle.net servers were being messed with and no one could log in and play even single player. That is a serious problem...servers crash, whole systems fail...hell, if you don't have enough redundancies, an earthquake in California can shut down everything.

I believe you can play StarCraft 2 in offline mode.

Mass Effect 3 fans are quite the interesting bunch.

^What do you mean? I can be considered a ME fan. How am I interesting in that regard?

I think he's talking about all the people who hated the Mass Effect 3 ending which I have no idea what it is but it was a disappointment or something.

I thought it was okay.

I guess what I meant is there a select group of them who want Bioware to not only remake the ending, but one guy wants the entire game remade. That's kind of taking it a bit far.

They say they are the majority of fans, however, last I checked Mass Effect 3 sold 3.5 million copies, and their group is only around 100,000. It's my understanding that a developer usually does what's in the best interest of the majority of it's fan base rather than a small vocal minority.

Have any other games had these sorts of protests that you guys know of? Once this thing happened, it was all over the news.

Tomb Raider Legend had it BAD. The die-hard Tomb Raider fans who played since the first game were annoyed with the major (negative) changes in gameplay, storyline, and character. Since the die-hard fans were outnumbered by the vast number of players, however, they were disregarded for the most part. Then Tomb Raider Underworld came out and tried to make changes to please the fans - and it backfired in a big way.

It seems to be happening with Team Fortress 2 for some reason, too, although the minority is much smaller; people complaining about the game's relatively recent obsession with hats. Personally, I have no problem with it.

I remember Left for Dead 2 being protested on Steam, fans wanting to play it and make sure met their standards ect. Happened with Portal 2 and most major games that came out on Steam (Although they usually go under the radar). TF2 does go hat-mad often, but it's not like the hats really do anything (Bar the Polycount pack ones) so you don't need them. Never really bothered me, just an optional extra if you want to stand out.

Finally managed to break 60 FPS in FSX. A rare sight, seeing as my last computer only got 15 FPS. Highly optimized configuration. All 8 CPU cores being used as well as 80% GPU usage. This is a dream come true. It's come quite a ways from when it was first released in 2006.

It received a far lower Metacritic score than the other games in the series, which prompted them to reboot the series yet again.

Series needed some kind of a reboot anyway. It also became popular as of late.

Some guy just released a high resolution texture pack for the entire Citadel for Mass Effect 3. Here's a link.

I've always thought that the general idea behind visual mods was to make the game look better.

How naive of me.

As far as I can tell, the difference is negligible.

I really only notice it when I'm looking up close at someone. Mass Effect does have a lot of cutscenes (all 3 games), and when the camera is up close on a character, you can see it really well.

I'll watch it tomorrow. I'm hoping for a 5th season. We'll see. John Noble (Walter) was actually in Calgary today, as well as a few other sci-fi people like Patrick Stewart. They were doing some sort of convention downtown.

So to keep me busy from now until Mass Effect 3's ending DLC comes out this summer, I might hit up Diablo 3 or something.

One of the things about me and forums, is that sometimes I get into a habit of just posting without reading the entire topic, say if it was 15 pages. Must have some sort of reading disability or something. Can't seem to remember that well. Short term memory is really bad.

I'm not sure what's going on there. I doubt they'd need that many floppy's just for the song.

Edit: Ah, I see. That's actually pretty damn good.
