A+ is pretty much a joke to employers nowadays. Back in the 90s, a lot of employers would see someone with an MCSE as valuable. I'm pretty sure in today's world that unless you're sporting a computer science degree, people aren't going to look at you.

Funny how things change. There was a lot of part time work back in the day. However, now, 95% of the jobs on the job boards are full time.

Looks like Microsoft Flight has been revealed as a joke. An arcade type flying game with Hawaii only and one or two planes. You need to pay more if you want the rest of the world. FSX included the whole world, just not in high resolution detail like I've got. It also included about 20 planes and 40 cities around the world in high detail (buildings mostly).

FSX runs pretty well for me anyways. I get 40-50 FPS with my addons which is pretty good since the default game runs at 100+ FPS on my system. It's come a long way since 2006 when it was released.

Edit: Here's the official trailer for Flight

It's the same a la carte bullshit as Train Simulator: $50 for a base game and over $6000 in DLC.

There's always Lockheed Martin's Prepar3d. A few years back Lockheed licensed FSX's code and made a lot of improvements with it. Soon it's going to have full DX11 support, GPU processing instead of having the CPU do all the work. With FSX, it used the first core the most, and the rest not so much.

There's one issue though. Lockheed has sold this as commercial software, so I don't know if it's made for people like me. You can use it by either paying $500 or $10 a month. Plus their license says it's not for home use. However, I don't use FSX like a game. For me, it's more of a learning tool, so I'd think for educational purposes it'd be okay. Still, I'd want to be sure of that before I do anything.

Bought DNF at Gamestop with a giftcard for $10...but I also bought You Don't Know Jack...and I think the latter will be more played. I need to install them eventually but I also bought Bulletstorm on Steam while I was away and so I'll let it install first.

Does the retail version of DNF have that thing which checks your settings and resets everything? You know when Steam would check your files and it would reset everything? I suppose that doesn't happen with retail copies. For example, when I tried to bind F3 to allammo (gives all weapons), Steam would check the file and it would reset it.

DNF is steamworks. Retail and digital versions should have the same behaviour.

And Steam only resets everything when you verify integrity which is manual. Also, disabling auto update would help completely nullify this possible issue.

See, I'm torn now (and I have that little bit of free time to play games right now) because I just installed Bulletstorm, I am installing DNF, and after spending the last few weeks basically driving around cities, I have this odd desire to play Sim City 4.

So my brother is learning how to drive, so he drove me back to the train station in my mom's Jeep. I was a little nervous, but he did well.

Well, I'm going to be a teacher (college professor) so my hours won't be so much 9-5 or even 5-1...plus, I won't sit on my butt doing nothing getting bored, I'll have articles and books to write and classes to prepare for. I look forward to not working part time but in the field I want to work in. I enjoy working in tech but I'd rather have stuff to do than sit around waiting for things to happen. If I'm going to work tech, I'd like to do stuff.

I love being unemployed. I occasionally go to the recycling plant and sell a bunch of shit with my dad and we'll split it. Made a $150 doing jack shit this week, and it's not like I need much money anyway.

My mom gave me an awesome idea. Getting paid to set up computers and stuff for small businesses. Not sure how that's going to work, but it would be kind of cool. Going to talk to my uncle's girlfriend's sister who knows a lot about businesses, so she might be able to set something up.

Working as an independent contractor with Dell Certification I made a lot of money in a few days just setting up computers. It is easy stuff and if you can find a company like KForce contracting out for Dell, you can get set up pretty well. I was offered a position after I had already started school (so I turned them down) because they heard good things from the Dell rep about my performance on the job.

It was contract work so it is short term stuff usually but it is a lot of money in that short amount of time and the possibility of a full time position being open. I found it through Craigslist, interestingly enough.

I've had a bunch of people suggest similar things to me, but more like fixing viruses and stuff. It just feels wrong to me to charge people to have me come over and run malware bytes, doh!

It is a little lucrative...but people are willing to pay for it so whatever.

I am going to just ignore the recent thread from Descent. If anyone who isn't an extremist finds anything worth reading in there, let me know via PM and I'll consider reading it.
