The only reason you should use multiple accounts is if you want to troll something (I have like 5 on a locally based forum a visit, they're named after puppets and nobody has latched on yet :P) - if you want to change your used name you either delete your existing accound or - if you can't delete it - e-mail the Administrators and ask them about it, they will usually co-operate as they have things to do and don't want you nagging them every week.

Well, it's official, Sandy Bridge benchmarks came out a few days ago. Oh my god, is this thing fast. Beats the i7 975 in most tests, and it's not that far behind the 980X.

Let's just say, on an LCD the blacks might be dark gray at best, while on a plasma, they are truly black.

Doesn't LED-backlit LCD also have "true" blacks?

Anyway, BTB and WTW are for limitedRGB coloring coding.

Supposed to be better than the regular LCD's. I think you need 5M:1 or more to be considered infinite black.

Hey what does "blow it out your ass" actually mean? I find it confusing because Duke says it when he blows up an enemy of all times.

Does contrast really define how "infinite" your black is? Kuro has 0. And I think it would still be 0 either way.

He nicked that line from They Live as well, interestingly, it wasn't spoken by George Nada (Roddy Piper's character,) but rather the Bum watching TV at Justiceville.

Also, Destiny, depressing? Hardly. Take a look.

Yeah the higher the contrast ratio, the deeper the blacks and the richer the other colors (light red, versus deep red colors). LED is close to plasma with 3M:1 or 4M:1, but nothing tops a plasma with Pioneer's Kuro technology. Or since Pioneer doesn't make plasma anymore, Panasonic's Infinite Black Pro on their VT25 and Z series plasmas, which as I stated earlier, when Pioneer stopped making plasmas, Panasonic hired or licensed some of Pioneer's engineers. In other words, they bought the rights to the technology from them.

(the benchmark thingy)

Hehe, I might try and test one of my machines on that to make you all feel better.

Anybody here used PassMark before? I hold the record for the lowest score ever recorded.

Of course, as of late I've been using my computer mostly just for browsing and watching TV. There aren't any games worthy my dime (or bandwidth/time :P) to play right now. I thought a bout picking up Starcraft 2 recently while at the store but I passed (and bought movies). Even though I could run most any game out there right now, I don't want to because they aren't fun.

However, when Mass Effect 3 comes out, I'll be taking a hit on my GPA and bank account. Maybe I can plan it just right that I have money to buy the game and time to beat it without falling behind in work.

I seem to be the popular guy at my new job. Already had some girls flirt with me. Although, they are around 10 years younger than me. LOL. This one girl had no idea I was turning 28 this year.

Anyone know a good way to compress 5.9gb to 4.7? I need to move this folder of date from my laptop to my desktop when I get home and I don't have a dual-layer dvd burner on this thing. If I did, I'd burn the files and not worry about it since it belongs on a DVD in the end anyway. I have no problem with "wasting" a DVD since I have tons (over 150, easily) so I figure that may be the best way to do this unless I can find 6 gigs of free space on a flash drive.

Have you used 7Zip http://www.7-zip.org/ If you deal with normal files you should be able to compress them.

I was surprised when I couldn't find it installed on my Ubuntu. I may have searched through the repos and couldn't find it. I'll try again. If this was a Windows laptop, I'd have already tried 7zip.

Fun things is that my Home folder is "full" on this thing so I am not even sure I can make a 4.9gb zip file to burn without removing things first. Stupid 5 year old Dell laptop with 40gb of hard drive space...

My cat has found a new place to sleep when I go to bed. In my clothes hamper. Of course, they are clothes which I don't wear anymore, but they provide Cosmo with a comfortable bed.
