Hello guys. I have a problem. It's been haunting me for the last couple of years, and I don't know what to do. I can't seem to get into new hobbies, and everything I do slowly becomes more boring to me. I lost motivation to make games and DN3D maps, mods. I can't imagine myself without doing something creative, so I started following my other passion, guitar playing, but just like any new hobby I start, I got so bored of it, I can't proceed any further. Also tried playing synthsizer, for bored even faster, sold it off. I'm afraid to start doing something new, because everything I do I get bored of and feel pain while doing it.

All I do in my life right now is buying/selling vinyl records and go to parties in hopes of finding someone, or just kill some time. But record collecting is something you do strictly for yourself, nobody I met is interested in vinyl and I can't share this hobby with anyone. So I don't feel like it's helping me in any way, just a way to waste money and feel some happiness for a little while. Partiing also doesn't do a damn thing to me, I can't find any interesting people, I get bored of almost everyone. And of course, still haven't found a girlfriend, but that doesn't matter much to me and not a big problem right now, thankfully.

It seems like my life gets more tedious with each day, and no matter how I try to fight it, I always come back to the starting point. I mostly do nothing, and feel shame constantly. Not just now, it's been like this for a couple of years. Though, when I released EH on steam, I felt like I accomplished something, but since then I can't start a new game. I know I can make good money if I keep making games, but I just have no motivation, even thinking about it is painful. Parents don't support me and don't understand me, they hope it goes away by itself, they think I just make up problems and I'm a lazy person. My dad tried talking to me, but all he did is made me feel ever worse.

At least you get to go to parties, I don't. I rarely get to socialize at all.

Usually being in a similar predicament I understand what you're saying, but I haven't yet found a way around it really, just that life tends to throw things at me that make me forget about it for a while like having to move home, running out of money (debt rapidly approaching five figures with only 75p in the bank), or health problems (the worst of which is now medicated).

I did write a book though, maybe you could try writing too. It doesn't matter if it's good or not or whether you intend to publish it at the end, it kills time quite well. You could even recycle something you invented before and loosely base a book on it if you're stuck for ideas. I reused characters from a book I wrote years ago... For you, I don't know, perhaps you could adapt A.Dream somehow? Who knows.

Part of the problem is probably that most of the Vinyl you own has terrible music on it, I mean who the hell listens to Pink Floyd? For heaven's sake. :P
Hoarding records myself, but certainly none of that stuff, mine are things like Jennifer Rush and if I'm in a more energetic mood, Megatronic... Hang on, aren't soppy Ballads and cheap Eurodance technically worse? Ah... I guess this is subjective.

Also, if it means anything, me and my best friend have very little in common. You don't have to share many interests with someone to end up being friends or even to have an interesting discussion. Our opinions often differ greatly and debating them is mentally stimulating; I'm right wing, he's left wing. I like death metal, he dislikes it. The same goes for most things, but we've been friends for 9 years now.

Where do you work? Find a shitty retail job and trust me you'll rediscover your love for all of your hobbies in life.

Also; the urge to get a girlfriend is mostly from social pressure (but I am a robot so I enjoy solitude) it might be worth re-evaluating your friendships if you have nothing in common with them and you feel like you need someone to fit in.

Start work in a BIG project, I mean a big and ambitious one. Keep it in the background but work on it here and there. The AMC TC has kept me sane for a very long time.

It's called depression Eddy. It rarely just goes away by itself. Go get help before it gets worse.

I'd have to second Forge on that 1, don't let the black veil of depression slide over your mind.

Stagnation is a key factor in depression, change your surroundings...go on a trip, maybe even just a camping trip. Separate yourself from your current environment for awhile and you may return with a fresh outlook.

Young males aren't built for unstimulating, sexless lives and older generations rarely have the proper insight into the plight of this new generation being raised in such a fucked up and seemingly futile new world.

If you've had a bad day, comedy movies tend to take your mind off stuff.
