I remember when I was in a store putting on my winter gloves and such and to get my attention, this guy grabbed me and said "Luke...I am your father" in a Darth Vader voice.

I had my dark black hood on at the time. I was putting on my gloves, and I kind of didn't see the clerk at the till, because he wasn't there 10 seconds ago.

It's not every day that you wake up to find your entrance and bathroom covered in 3 inches of water. I got most of it mopped up. Around 30L of water off the floor. The guy across from me, his place is completely trashed.

Good news is they will be replacing my baseboards, tile, and carpet for free as it's covered under insurance.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but regarding Supreme Leader Snoke

Supreme Leader Snoke seems like a very silly name. Who thought this up? And who calls themselves Supreme Leader nowadays? Supreme Leader Snoke sounds like what cleaning staff might call the senior janitor behind his back. This is all very obviously a front for something!

Ok, point taken! I just thought Snoke sounded a bit daft for a super villain.

This probably won't be of interest to anyone, but I gotta say something about it
Someone is making a plugin for Unreal Engine that converts Source engine maps into UE. It imports all the geometry, all the lights, all the texture data, even stuff like nodraw is imported. The only thing that isn't imported are any props/static meshes.
This works with Quake particularly well, since the maps were made entirely from brush.
This was imported and run with just a single mouse click.

It is called Hammuer for anyone interested; it will be releasing soon.

Think on the bright side: at least he's not called dookie Dooku.

Wait, so theoretically, could you then import the whole games of Quake I and II and Unreal I with little work, to use modern lighting and physics?

The maps, yeah. I don't know if things like doors or elevators work without having to modify stuff, but I've asked about it (not that they would be hard to create anyways)
The rest of the games though would need to be recreated yourself, enemy AI, models, game code, etc etc.
In other words, you could instantly import Q1DM6, place new player starts and weapon spawns, and then play it in whatever project you are working on within a couple minutes. You don't need to recreate the maps from scratch.

They had a VR demo where you actually walked across the wire between the towers back in E3 I believe. That is something I would love to try

I might give this one a miss! It's an amazing thing to imagine though. I hope you get your chance to try this and with VR becoming better and cheaper you stand a really good chance!

Oh heck.I have another 40 minutes of this thing to run. I don't know how many more frights I can take!

Like Alexandria, it's utterly fascinating about how Google has become such an authoritative source of information that, if something doesn't show up on Google, it may as well not exist.
