A great read Yatta. If only our world would have ppl like you in in charge of game reviews, instead of fags that are bribed to hype shits and tall bullshit about quality products.

I read the review, I think the guy hasn't been able to understand the idea behind Duke, he's so awesome, he has his own genre.

Part two is in. It shows the excitement, and the continuous battle between losers and winners, via the article. I won't critic the critic of the critic, but I do think DN Forever will stick around forever. It's a trademark like Quake but with tits in it, a must have, even for cold fans like myself.

Cheers Yatta! Must have been some trip, my envi scale is up by a notch or two ;)

In the new video Randy himself states that they're still working on hitching and graphics problems. I notice none of the previews admit this, they only complain about it.

Also, Yatta. Was the game what you would call linear? I remember one interview saying the game has a sort of lemon-like design. Where it's kind of linear at parts but also expands into little playgrounds where puzzles, interactive novelties, etc were more common. Did you see any of this in the first 90 minutes? And aside from Duke's penthouse, how many interactive things did you find? Don't say WHAT they were, but were interactive things fairly common?

The game is linear in the sense that you have to follow a preset path, but there's always things to explore along the way. It's no more linear than Call of Duty or Halo. The puzzles are fun!

There are many interactive things. Yes, fairly common.

Glad that it turned out so great. However I was expecting at least a tiny little negative feedback on anything, you know nitpicking... I think that's the thing which every pre/review should have even if it turns out 10/10.

I mean, it's still an unfinished game, so technically I could nitpick about glitches that Randy said they're working on fixing, such as missing textures or occasional hitches. However, knowing that they're working to fix those, I don't think it's something I would need to cover in my preview unless they hadn't mentioned their intention to polish out the glitches by release time.

Well, if bugs were the only problem (and they're gonna be fixed I'm sure about it) I'm more than happy to hear that.
Thanks again Yatta.

Yatta, thanks for taking us inside Titty City! It's a great document of the experience and it does a lot of explaining. Love it when about 3/4 of the way through Randy's speech you turn the camera on yourself - your expression is priceless. I was shocked to see that Randy is as much, if not actually more of a fanboy than any of us are (well, then some of us are!).

Many thanks for taking all of us along on your wild ride!

Some of the best games I've played had mixed reviews.

Bad reviews usually mean bad games.
Good reviews, don't always mean a good game.
Mixed reviews means controversy people!!!
Mixed reviews could indicate a game that could actually change the big picture, at least in a few ways.

That was great, Yatta! We couldn't have been at a better place or time, together with friends sharing a common interest. Thanks to you, we're part of something going way beyond our expectations as members of your site. As the greatest thing to happen in gaming unfolds, we're now a little part of history in the making.

Thanks for the very kind words. ;)

By the way, some people commented on the Titty City video asking about the version of Grabbag used in it. It's actually a very short clip I recorded on my own guitar a few years ago. :P

I just kept yelling at video Yatta to stop turning it back on yourself while filming inside or scratching your nose whatever you were doing LOL. Otherwise, nice little video with some insight into how that whole thing went down.

This is prob. the funniest scene i've seen so far! A drunken Stormtrooper throwing weights after Duke, then getting knocked out. An other Stormtrooper exercising his punches then grabbing a fire extinquisher to throw at Duke too...HAHA this is the evidence for a game that just has to be awesome! :P :P :P

That was fucking hilarious! ;) See, that's what I've been missing
in games. Dead nailed what a Duke Nukem game is all about.
Drunk aliens. Throwing weights and using the punching/heavy
bag. Simply brilliant. :D

And I'm still waiting to have our community questions answered, because that's supposed to be the main feature of part 3. I hope Gearbox didn't forget. ;)

^ Considering the impact your site has, Gearbox may want to answer the question carefully; to avoid a riot. So it may take some time. How long? No clue how many questions you forwarded. If the answers gets past by Randy himself maybe two to three weeks. They are in full gear to get this game out in just over two month.

Just a thought.

Why does it have to take 2-3 weeks? Am I missing something? It's not like gearbox has to do any research to get any answers, most of the questions would have been fairly straight forward in what they were asking, and the people who would be answering these questions at gearbox should be able to pull the answers straight from the top of their heads.

yes but they can't just go around spouting answers around. Everything needs to be cleared by someone, and I'm sure Yatta isn't the only one looking for answers, also, I remember recently I got an email asking for questions, if they answer your question you win stuff. So I'm betting there will be another wave of info soon.

Hey! :P
Still no news about the community questions? It has been quite a long time now (well, not really compared to the development cycle, but...)

No news. Oh well. There'll be other opportunities I'm sure.

E-mail GBX or something and chase them up on it.

Uh ... where are you with them? Will they respond to your questions, or do they pass? ;)

I think it's pretty obvious by now that no questions will be answered.
In fact, I knew they wouldn't answer his questions ever since he said they were pending!

I think it's rude of Gearbox to just not answer the questions like that. They should have at least said something like "we're not taking any questions" since a lot of work by Yatta and some of the members of the community was put into making a good, balanced, yet not too intrusive list of things to ask. Sure they might answer them in a month but then what's the point? They would have given out those details by that time regardless.

Part 3 -- community questions answered: http://www.duke4.net....php?extend.448

Sorry if some of your questions weren't included. Gearbox had limited time and it's understandable that there'd only be a number of questions they'd be able to answer.

I don't care that my question wasn't included.
The interview was a great read.

Thanks Yatta.
