Hold on is this different to the iPhone version? Just for iPads? Or I'm getting confused...
Edit: yep it's a different app for the iPad. And lucky for me, next year my school's giving everyone FREE iPads to put their textbooks on, so I'll get it now and keep it until I get one.
It looks like the interface is exactly the same as on the iPhone. You'd think they'd make some changes, or a complete overhaul to the control scheme, but I guess they couldn't be bothered.

Why didn't they just make the same app work for both iPad and iPhone? It sounds like the only difference is that the iPad version is called Duke Nukem 3D SE. What does the SE stand for? Special Edition?

Well I'm still scuba diving though the sewage that is the iPhone port, and it's my aspiration to be the first person on the planet to actually finish it

Duke Nukem 3D: Suck Edition.
No thats the iphone port, this is the super suck edition.

Suck Edition doesn't really make sense by itself. It's probably more like Sucker Exploitation

Why not? Suck Edition means it's the edition that sucks. Of course, yours works wonders too.

I've made it halfway through episode 3 on the iPhone, thank god I had the jetpack for flood zone.
Have some screenshots of some bugs:

It looks like any textures on walls or floors that have the transparent pink colour don't get rendered at all and you can see what's behind them.

The camera can look outside the level at certain angles when the player is in certain positions, this is the start of LA Rumble.

When some walls are blown up, the textures flip. Also, in many places the wall textures are aligned to the floor instead of the ceiling or vise versa, imagine if in Toxic Dump when you raise the water level, all the cliff textures move up with the water...

They tried putting in an underwater effect that makes everything blue, which would have been a nice idea, but it clashes with the shading so that everything beyond a certain distance shows up redish.

I'm probably stepping into a hornets nest, but why? What's wrong with putting games into iPhone? Or is it the maker, who got exclusive rights to everything made my Apogee?

No. But I think I got it now, it's how it's made.

The controls are terrible, the screen is small, it's incredibly hard to run and shoot at the same time, and it's hard to do anything accurately like jumps or timed puzzles. The game is also much, much slower paced and the level music has been taken out.

Thanks. You already know that I'm very slow. But looking at my screen and then to my iPhone, say no more.
