You watch. "Earliest possible admittance" will be like 2 weeks. that's nothing.

I don't get what the big deal is. OK, so you buy their GOTY edition of Borderlands and you get a code to get the DNF demo before everyone else. So? You get faster download speeds and less lines because when this shit hits, everyone and their mother will download the demo.

This smells like a way to get Borderlands in as many hands as possible. Can't the game fend for itself or must it use the biggest vaporware title of all time as a selling point? But, hey, who am I to tell Randy not to milk that cow.

Haven't you already played the demo in Amsterdam?

I would love to have the demo myself so I can play it undisturbed in my house. Having said that, if they can't ship the demo with the GOTY package and not even provide an indication of when 'Early Access' people actually get to download the demo, then there's very little point for me to buy it. If the demo doesn't come out until Christmas (or who knows, might be later) you're better off waiting until Borderlands GOTY drops in price and you know when you can get the demo.

BTW, when i get demo access i put the files up on Duke4.net so everyone can play...

Now that you have said that you will be banned from buying Borderland GOTY and playing DNF demo. Sucks for you.

;) haha...your ninja edit prevails this time...but someone will catch you stealing the DNF demo and sharing with the world...

Actually, I imagine that is what happened with the trailer stuff. People were all talking publicly about sneaking in a camera so they increased security.

Has anyone considered that the demo MIGHT have some form of piracy protection that would lock out the multiplayer functions?

You know, like nearly every PC FPS in the past decade?

That's why I'm buying it. It's a gamble, but whatever.

I'm pretty sure that 2K/GBX know that torrent sites are gonna be all over this like flies on shit.

Those who played it before and didn't want to buy a freaking game just to get their hands on the demo earlier. Again.

how will this stop anything???

this is one of the most anticipated launch titles in the history of gaming, when games like Mafia II are cracked and available literally HOURS after their release what makes you think that by the time this demo is released they'll some new magical technology that will block out all hackers? trust me, it wil be all over TPB minutes after release.

Yeah, and demos should be free for everyone and not require me to own a game I don't like.

We have waited years for this, screw the borderfags! We should have the demo first, they should send a complimentary copy of the demo to Duke4.net for us to download and play for free. ;)

yeah I mean, I don't want to sound like an asshole, but we have been the die hards for YEARS. never giving up on Duke, even in the darkest hour, and our thanks is getting a stupid game shoved up our ass? BOOOO

I guarantee you that they have already finished the product key authentication code for DNF, that is a very basic thing to write, and it shouldn't be too hard to implement in the demo, at all.

If they are bundling it with another product, they may use this to help prevent people who BOUGHT the GOTY edition from feeling jerked over.

Also, you are missing the point of my post:

I'm talking about multiplayer being non functional on pirated demo copies. This has been a problem for pirated PC games for over a decade.

I'm not saying this WILL happen, I'm saying that yes, there is a chance it might.

I think this one is more than "just" a demo. This is the first time the public will play Duke Nukem Forever after over a decade of waiting. This is a very, very big deal, even if it turns out to be just a couple levels and a few multiplayer maps.

If you really are Die Hard for DNF then you'll do whatever it takes. ;) It's like people who pay to goto a crappy movie just because the trailer for their hugely anticipated movie is gonna play first at that movie. It's kind of irrelevant nowadays with Youtube and whatnot, but still the same thing haha.

A demo is a demo, if it was a beta i could understand piracy protection but its just a demo.

I can almost guarantee you that the BIG OMFG DEMO that we will be getting is the exact same version that's being shown now on all the expos around our cubical planet!
So don't be hyped THAT much. I can almost promise you, there won't be any multiplayer element to this demo.
Today's strategy in almost every dev's and publisher's yard, is to build a demo, show it at expos and then release it to the public a few weeks or months later.
That's how Mafia 2 worked for ex. They showed the demo at E3 and everywhere else, then they've released the exact same demo a few months later.
By the time you will get your hands on the demo, you would have already seen it entirely, played in videos.
At this point in time, the demo that they are showing and letting people play at the expos, can be seen in it's entirety in quite a few gameplay videos on youtube.
I am 99% sure that what you can see now in the videos is EXACTLY the demo that we will get.
The biggest thing that they might do to that demo, is to fix a few more bugs in it.
My experience also tells me that it will come equipped with the long awaited trailer if it doesn't get released until then.
All of this shit will happen exactly after they will be done with their DNF promoting campaign.

Because, I've seen this happen almost every single time in the last 5 years. Besides, all of my predictions about this game that were discussed until now, proved to be correct, so why would I start being wrong all of a sudden?
You just wait and see that I'm going to be right about this too. If I won't be correct about my prediction, I will allow you to call me stupid on the forum for one week!

Well the Demo that you can play and see on the expo's has a ending picture with the thing released in 2011, buy now, follow us on facebook. So i wouldn't even be surprised if thats the demo for the public.
