[WISH] Split-screen support for family

Now that am older I sometimes find myself visitng friends who have kids. I found the new Nightdive KEX-engine games like Doom, Blood, etc. made local split-screen coop more accessible, easy to setup, native controller support and more. What I love to see is eduke32 implementing split-screen natively. I know there's Nucleus Co-op but that requires more tech know-how and it's actually running multiple instances of the game.

How easy/hard would it be to implement native split-screen support in eduke32?

Why is this necessary when you can play over LAN and each user gets a full size screen?

I presume because only one device is needed for split-screen.

When it's a terrible experience I still don't see why one would do this. Duke 3D runs on a potato. It's not like there is extensive cost involved in two or more machines capable of running the game via lan.
