EDuke32 & Dosbox have different images

EDuke32 & DOSbox have different images

I'm on PC Arch Linux KDE, I installed:
Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition from https://archive.org/...onCollectionUSA
https://aur.archlinu...ackages/eduke32 .

Originally (on DOSbox) the maximum definition of the game is 800x600.

The 2 images are different: the view & the HUB, as purist I'm chocked!

EDuke32 probably never aimed at purists, and also gave up on maximum compatibility a while ago. Try Rednukem.

You can change EDuke32's ugly HUD in the options to make it look like the original. I've never noticed the different view, maybe there's an option for that as well.

Finally on Arch Linux KDE I can choose qwerty, it works.

r_usenewaspect 0

is same as: OPTIONS, DISPLAY SETUP, ASPECT RATIO: STRETCHED.

With with option & FOV (default: 90) it's possible to change the view, but as far I tried without success (viewing the upper right red dot)...
I think it would be ASPECT RATIO: AUTO & FOV: 90.5 but no decimal number...

About Rednukem: it's now NBlood https://dukenukem.fa...m/wiki/Rednukem https://github.com/NBlood/NBlood https://aur.archlinu...ages/nblood-git , I'll try but why EDuke32 & NBlood? Isn't 1 port sufficient?

You need to open the developer console, by default with the ~ key.

To shrink the HUD, you can also press the - key.

NBlood is separate because we currently do not want to mix reverse-engineered code like Blood and Redneck Rampage into officially licensed source code releases like Duke Nukem 3D that are then used in commercial products like Ion Fury.

My bad, there's also the same HUD on EDuke32 as DOSBox:

My bad again, Nblood & Rednukem are 2 different things.

There's https://aur.archlinu...#comment-889334 but https://aur.archlinu...es/rednukem-git 404... Googling "rednukem linux" I not found...
But there's on Window$ https://github.com/N...NBlood/releases but I hate that "OS", i won't install it.

Will the next release of EDuke has the original view? Should I create the issue https://voidpoint.io...duke32/-/issues ?

Rednukem is built from the NBlood sources, just like Ion Fury lives within EDuke32. Installing NBlood for Arch Linux might actually give you a Rednukem executable, too.
[EDIT:] At least, that's what the plain "make" command does.

No. As h266 pointed out, it appears that you can get your desired behaviour by altering the EDuke32 default configuration. So you are not encountering an actual bug, but a "new" renderer feature, "new aspect".

If you can't figure out how to enter the line "r_usenewaspect 0" into the console, you could also write it into settings.cfg while the executable is not running.

https://voidpoint.io/terminx/eduke32 : the tab title is "Richard Gobeille / EDuke32 ยท GitLab".
Is someone called Richard Gobeille here? To know if I'll write in https://voidpoint.io...t_page_size=100 .

Otherwise I'm not very purist, I'll play EDuke32, the original on DOSBox it's not possible to play with gamepad + mouse (I play FPS the gamepad at the left hand to move, the mouse the right hand to aim).
