besides, now that Cobra Kai come to its end, the producers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg have plenty of time to focus on the Duke Nukem movie

As much as I've enjoyed Peacemaker and was positively surprised by Cena's acting in it, this is exactly NOT the kind of acting/character I would like to see in a Duke movie, as this was pretty much the very definition of the bad or twisted 'parody' aspect of Duke.

I know what Duke Nukem would say :
Duke Nukem : "Damn desert, no gas and no chicks !"
Bet he would find chicks in the wasteland, but he would also follow Lo Wang advice "Before you attack her, wrap your wacka" and use condoms, because babes of the wasteland must have more STDs than an african country

Well, perhaps someday someone will ask you to write the screenplay for Duke's Adventures in Bad Taste. Maybe.

The most important thing would be to have a good writer(s) who understood the appeal of both the games (well, game, Duke Nukem 3D) and the character. If they give the job to someone who doesn't understand these things, then
no matter how great the rest of the film's aspects are, it won't be true Duke Nukem, and will likely also be boring and forgettable. And given the modernish trend in Hollywood to ruin franchise-based movies , and even to employ
script-writers who seem proud to admit that they've never even seen or read anything of the franchise that they've been hired to write about, well, I have no confidence that a Duke Nukem film would do justice to the character
and his adventures, even in the unlikely event that such a film does ever come out.

He used to be badass. In Duke 3D he's a relatively serious character. Even when he jokes, its done through gritted teeth.

I just now saw this. But this is exactly what's wrong with how people see Duke now. Alan Ritchson's name has been tossed around as a fan favorite, I agree, but I saw someone say this on reddit: "He already has 'toilet humor' down from playing Thad in Blue Mountain State" and my immediate response was internal screaming and cringe. I love the idea of Alan playing Duke, watch Reacher if you don't agree, but I think the idea that Duke has toilet humor needs to... go down the toilet. Duke's humor is presented much like Commando and Die Hard, either straight, through gritted teeth (as you said), or just a moment of levity to remind people that this character is a badass who doesn't mind cracking a joke amidst combat.

WOW! What a great idea! I'm on board with that too!
I'd like to see a cartoon for Duke Nukem. Whether he's fighting Dr. Proton's creations or an alien invasion. And of course, fueled by steroids and nightclubs...
But for it to work it would have to be done by someone hired who was a big fan of the Duke Nukem series.
Otherwise it would be Woke Nukem, not Duke Nukem!

Basically they want him to be a crasser version of Johnny Bravo, a sentiment I never liked.

Johnny Bravo is great, I love Johnny Bravo... as Johnny Bravo. Duke isn't supposed to be a parody, but an homage. A compilation of traits and stereotypes of 80's action heroes. I get so tired of seeing people not take Duke seriously.
