Powerslave Ramses (upscaled it with Spongebob Reloaded, then blurred it a lot)

Prof. Ramses and his unkempt hair rock band post-grad student save the world from alien invasion.

Ramses looks like someone's history teacher who's trying to make learning fun. Only, he thinks fun is putting on a costume and sounding over dramatic.

Looks like a very charming person to me.

Why was it Randy and not Jon St. John anyway?

On a side note, while I'm not really interested to know how you interpolated the two pictures before feeding them into GFPGAN, perhaps you would elaborate?

Because Randy has a certain meme status in the Discord.

Duki was upscaled by tinyface model, then they were overlaid on top of another with the top picture having 50% opacity. Then there was some amount of blur applied but I don't remember specifically.

I kind of expected there to have been some morphing algorithm or even AI transformation but this would do as well, I guess.

BTW, have you tried to convert Duke/Duki to grayscale and then use a colouring AI to hopefully get some more realistic skin tone instead of those garish colours?

I cropped the face, blurred it a bit then ran through GFPGAN

The Doomworld thread about Neural Blender is already quite long, but I've yet to find any reasonable description of the underlying principles of its function, except that it's a "neural visualisation" AI.

It must be based on a huge database of images and semantically relevant descriptions thereof (or maybe there are just keywords?).

It looks like the Pixel2Style2Pixel framework might be already able to do what we want, namely produce higher resolution upscales of low-pixel game art that would be stylistically faithful to the source material, if only it were fine-tuned to produce the desired results.

He's not, but if you could procure some for him he'd be very grateful

Late, but that Lo Wang render looks like a skateboarder who's also the bassist in a punk band, and either career choice is going to work out for him any day now.
