Ninety-Six, you can buy NFC stickers on ebay for dirt cheap, grab amiibo BIN files online, get the TagoMO app for Android, and create your own amiibo stickers. That's what I did. I actually made a whole set of Zelda amiibo cards. For BOTW. When Samus Returns came out, I made some stickers for those amiibo too so I could unlock Hard Mode (that's all it does).

Nintendo the game developer are almost always on point and make amazing content, there have been a couple missteps (Metroid Prime Federation Force) but they're usually just top notch.

Nintendo the business is a big honking rip off of a company that will screw you over any way they can.

And speaking of Metroivanias and Metroid fangames, has anyone tried the Prime 2D demo? Freaking amazing. It's not just a demake anymore, they're rewriting the game lore and story it seems like so it's fresh and brand new. And boy can I not way to play more of it. And in the demo there are SO MANY SECRETS to find.

I absolutely love Prime 2D, however I'm not that sold on the rewriting of the lore and story. I'm someone who could be called a lore purist with the franchises I love. So although it is a joy to play I feel kind of iffy. Not that anything that they have added AFAIK has been egregious. So far only there have been easter eggs.

I have those but for Zelda BOTW. The amiibos are incredibly easy to pirate.

It's a shame that getting a special edition for Metroid Dread is going to be all but impossible. I tried to pre order it (I fell to temptation) and it was all but sold out here in Mexico, everywhere. Instead you can find it on Mercado Libre for double the price. Fucking Scalpers.

Many are saying that the Dread SE is just not available yet rather than it being already out of stock. I'm going to be leaning on my local PNP Games chain to get an import at some point. It's how I got Link's Awakening Special Edition. Just wish I could have gotten the Samus Returns one. I got the NA version with the music CD anyway, but it seems UK gets all the best stuff nowadays and needs to be imported.

You just threw a lot of terms at me that I don't really understand.

And yeah I know that it only unlocks hard mode. But that used to be something you unlocked through normal play, and I enjoy the hard modes. Metroid is already a difficult series and I tend to look forward to playing it on an higher difficulty. Hell, I only play the Prime games on hard mode now (or at least Prime 1 and 2. Not a fan of how it was integrated in 3 and the Trilogy versions where it saves logbook data across which I wish you could at least choose to start over fresh on Hard. I see the logbook entries as collectibles in of themselves so having them pre-collected irks me).

And while cutting out stuff that used to be free in earlier releases is a practice I already hate, it really makes it even worse when it's being resold to you but is severely limited in stock. It's on-disc DLC that just having the money isn't enough for. You have to go out and buy a useless little statue, which again they purposefully keep in low supply. That's the part that really pisses me off. As much as I hate the practice I'd have bought the hard mode DLC, but Nintendo themselves choose to not let me.


I didn't know about it until this topic, but I fully support amiibo piracy. Fuck Nintendo.

I haven't yet, no, and I'm not sure if I will. I appreciate the attempt to put in new content but Prime 1 as it is is already one of my favorite games of all time. I don't know if it has any hope of living up to it (and this is from someone who actually prefers 2).

Play it. It's good. It's not about measuring up to Prime (which IS my favourite). It's about a new Metroid experience that's fun to play. And we're severely short on those right now, Dread notwithstanding.

In another news, an official classification for Castlevania Advance Collection surfaced.

If this pans out, it would be one of the few cool things Konami has done since they fell to the depravity of pachinko machine hell. I'm cautiously excited for this one. I love the games but truly, Konami is the fucking worst.

EDIT: Also, in celebration of Metroid Dread, I have decided to replay all the Metroid 2D games.

I scanned the little art/history book included in the Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector's Edition. I'm not sure if it has been uploaded to the internet yet but seeing as H have not been able to find it with my google fu and I had a couple of hours today with the office scanner for my own purposes I decided to add the "little booklet" to my workflow. I have uploaded it to the Internet Archive both as individual jpegs, a zip file and a cbz file.

So, a lot has happened lately. First off, Prime 2D got shut off by Nintendo unfortunately. I have uploaded the Demo to the Internet Archive though, for those who are interested in trying it out.

Second, Blasphemous latest DLC has been announced, and the trailer looks dope! Also Blasphemous 2 has been confirmed to be in development.

I don't think they even pushed Other M or any of the Prime games this hard. It's truly a sight to behold. I love to see it. I just hope the audience is there to respond or I fear Metroid will go into extended hiatus again which we don't want.

Now I know we are all excited for Metroid Dread but I think we should try some other metroidvanias till the release of le big fish. So to start this let me make one recommendation: Touhou Luna Nights.

A game set in the titular series Touhou, it's a metroidvania bullet hell. Now if that does not make you raise an eyebrow, then you are probably dead inside.

IMO this is a pretty fun metroidvania with some interesting and original gameplay mechanics that people should try out. As always, you don't need to buy it my dudes. But if you do, it's AFAIK available on Steam and on the Nintendo Switch.

On another also exciting news, Record of Lodoss War-Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth- is getting released on consoles! And it is a physical release as well!



This is another game I can readily recommend. It's a beautiful metroidvania that has tight gameplay and although it is short, it doesn't drag out like other metroidvanias (I'm looking at you hollow Knight).

3 days to release day for Metroid Dread. Aaaaaaaaand it leaked kek. People have been able to play it on Ryujinx (sorry if I butchered the spelling there). It honestly looks freaking awesome. I may or may have not acquired a totally legal NSP of the game and installed it on my hacked switch.
