Played them recently and they're indeed pretty cool, probably some of the best examples of classic style in user maps, pulled with more sense of grandeur in mind though. I generally agree with Mikko's reviews.
Bank Job is mostly Bank Roll, mixed with some Movie Set and Pigsty vibe. It felt a bit unbalanced at the beginning, with practically no health items whatsoever until a secret with medkit, but even larger concern was ammo scarcity (playing on CGS). I really liked how the vault security was done, the crack at the end that Mikko mentions was hardly noticable really and I only noticed it because there was a single pipebomb nearby, so I knew there's stuff to blow up.
Penthouse is much improvement really. This time the theme is Rabid Transit, Duke Burger, Toxic Dump/Launch Facility sewers (this part was a bit
too much inspired by the original levels IMO, almost looking like a copy) and then the brilliant city part which had a bit of everything, from Freeway to E4 city levels. I wasn't expecting the city part to be that large really after emerging from already quite lengthy subway part, which was a very cool surprise. The highway bridge has even a Roch 6 vibe (same goes for the Duke apartment at the end which was simply brilliant, easily the coolest design in the map). The combat seems more fair, although on the other hand some fights could easily be "cheesed". The sandbox gameplay of the city part was pretty cool, especially since there were quite a few completely optional locations that didn't need to be visited for progress.
The strong and accented shadows looks great and truly have this 3DR feeling. The maps can surely be recommended, they're worth playing! The Author is also quite active in his Steam workshop, so maybe it's worth leaving him your comments and feedback when you play it
