Compared to Kaspersky and Windows Defender, which could be better for Internet security?

Since Windows Defender is a free antivirus, I have been using it for a long time. Lately, though, Windows Defender has sometimes been unable to block instances of malware on my PC during testing. They will only tell you that you must have another antivirus installed! In general, Microsoft does not publish enough regular updates for the Defender. I know that Kaspersky is a robust antivirus and robust malware application. Do I have to buy a kaspersky antivirus key these days? Does anyone have a good recommendation?
