Play Station 1 doesn't work with modern TV

Guys, I have bought playstation 1, but my TV does not see it. It says "no signal". Tried everything (rebooting tv, ps 1, looking into tv settings etc). I've ordered AV to HDMI adapter, but I'm not sure it will help. Maybe somebody knows what's wrong?
On forums I have read that TV is too modern and it cant read so low PS 1 signal.

If your TV has a composite video input (RCA cable jacks) it will work. It has nothing to do with "so low PS 1 signal". That doesn't even make sense.

1) Kind of a no-brainer, but are you selecting the proper input on the TV? Make sure you select "Composite" or "AV1" or whichever it is labeled as.

2) Does your TV have a composite video input? Or is it component? Composite has a single yellow plug for video and two stereo red and white for audio. Component has 3 video inputs that are red, green, and blue + the stereo white and red audio cables. If your TV has component and not composite it may not work.

Here's a shot of a TV with both inputs. The highlighted inputs are composite, the ones next to it are component. Make sure you're plugging into the right inputs.

If you do have composite and it doesn't work then maybe your TV's composite inputs are toast. That can happen. What kind of TV brand/model do you have anyway?

I have composite video input on my tv. Playstation works, I've checked it twice in the shop. My TV is Bravis led32e3000.

Weird. I have yellow, red and white inputs, but in the intruction of my tv it calls component.

EDIT: Looks like I have both. My info is not clear... But I've tried all possible connections and settings.

From where you are, you're either using PAL or SECAM for composite, which uses 576i50 as a broadcast format.
It might simply be that newer TVs don't bother supporting this as it's considered more of a niche compared to 480i60 (and NTSC encoding)

It might be that your TV doesn't like the low resolution "288p" that comes out of it, one way you can try to get 576i out of it is to load a game that has a high resolution title screen and see if it makes a difference. These are sadly not too common.

If you have a component input on your TV (Supporting Y Pb Pr) then you can plug in the cable to Y port (green) and see if you get a black & white picture.

Signals that are coming out of systems prior to PS2 era are kind of broadcast format hacks and not really compatible with modern equipment.
You will likely have success with that converter as those tend to take older equipment in to account.

Look also if in the settings there is a "game mode" or something similar, some TVs won't let any output video (console related) because of this.

Hint: Ordering a modchip and a pack of CD-Rs is better value. This is a Play Station, after all.

I use a Hyperkin PS1/PS2 HDTV Cable for PS1/PS2 for my PSOne on my 43' 4K HDTV and the picture quality looks good from my end. Can you go on eBay and buy one just to try it out?

I will stick with my adapter for now, cause it has quite nice picture quality.

If all you have is the red, white, green, and blue component inputs then put the yellow in the green slot and it should work on the Component/AV input of your TV.

Have you tried buying an older TV? Just a thought.

I thought you were gonna suggest he should cum in the AV sockets.

I use HDRetroVision component cables for my PS2 (works on PS1 and PS3 as well, but not sure why you'd use it on PS3), and it's about as good quality as you can get without internal mods. I use an older Plasma TV, so it doesn't really have any problem interpreting the video signal. Most adapters "get the job done" but are very low quality. The only one I'd recommend is the Rad2X, which just eeks out by the HDR cables because it processes the video so TVs interpret it properly. The only downside is that the Rad2X doesn't interpret 480p properly, so you'll still need component cables to play games that use 480p.

An older good quality TV is probably the most cost efficient thing a retro gamer can buy.
