Because I won't be able to edit it in a week. :D This is just an announcement, I'd like to create some hype before release. Although I can make a separate thread for the release I'd rather keep everything in one single thread. Does it make sense?

Hearing some inspirations from Halloween and I think from Scream too.

There are few terror themes using bells that don't sound like rip offs of The Exorcist or Halloween, the theme from Unsolved Mysteries is one.

This track is a medley of two different intros from the show.

sounds like a mix pogo would do, except smoother. Like an actual song instead of soundbites on a loop.

to me it sounds like an intro to a tv show. This is what i'd hear if I watched the x-files or unsolved mysteries.

I'm not scared. I think the tempo was too fast and the tone too upbeat.

I doubt any of the tracks from the album is gonna scare anybody besides me in the dark working to finish it on time.

It doesn't surprise me you mentioned Pogo. I've been listening to it from time to time since you presented me his music, I have always liked to include samples from the sources in my remixes though, even since Reduked, so using Robert Stack voice in this interpretation was just a logic step. Maybe Pogo has some darker mixes or just Disney rated stuff?

Trivia: There will be a remix from Duke Nukem in Sample & Horror, as a matter of fact there is an actual sample of the remix hidden in Reduked DE, I wonder if someone ever noticed it.

I don't think so. Even the song he made from the Shining is kind of upbeat.

Doing something like this, but with a dark undertone is probably uncharted territory.
Or at least not explored and mapped thoroughly then presented to a wider audience. Probably a lack of public domain samples that would fit the genre.

Crap! It had to be public domain? I think I need to cancel the release all together. :o

Edit: Just listened to Pogo's Redrum, if you like it you must really listen to Burial if you haven't already. I'm pretty sure is one of Pogo's main influences.

I'd recommend you listen to Untrue album.

Maybe I have a different perspective of what "dark" is.

Burial sounds like the proper style, but they sampled sinéad o'connor instead of venom

I'm not telling Burial is dark, but certainly is darker than Pogo, if I had to place them in an scale Pogo is the brightest, Burial would be in a grey area and then Lustmord would definitely be on the darkest side.

Agree, but Lustmord sounds like slowed down whale songs, not mix/remix.

I used Lustmord for a lack of a better equivalent, I'm making a quick research about "plunderphonics" the genre Pogo seems to be exponent, and apparently there's no such thing as dark plunderphonics, the closest thing sounds like some random vaporwave or drone ambient. Coincidentally there's a remix in Sample & Horror that somewhat approximates what dark plunderphonics would sound, clue: it is the music from two horror movies filmed in the snow...

that's what I was trying to say.
now I'm saying it's there for the taking because of the lack of pioneers in that direction.

Definitely is something I must look ahead in this and future works.

Forge dou you have some free time? I'm putting together a digital booklet for the release, but I lack proper grammar and probably have redaction errors, I'd be glad if you can check it out. Or maybe another native English speaker in this forums could help me?

In case someone is wondering what happened, well I had a car accident, nothing serious but I haven't be able to be in front of the computer for some days, I was giving the final touches to the songs and started the mastering phase, but right now I'm on a hiatus, I was planning to postpone the release for Halloween but I won't be able to finish it on time, so a november release sounds fine to me.

I sampled mostly 80s movies. I can make a full list of all the sources I took samples from if anyone is interested, there are ones from Poltergeist, The Thing, The Shinning, Clock Tower, C.H.U.D. to name a few...
