Note to potential players: I don't believe the hacked Liquidator exe has been fully analyzed, so it is possible that this source port-focused package is incomplete with regard to details like the key sizes.

1.4 beta released: https://github.com/f...tor-3D/releases
There was a huge bug in the cons that was making some levels unfinishable. It's now fixed.
On top of that, most of the textures were translated to English, the key sprite was replaced with a bigger version, and some other fixes were applied.

I started this but I haven't worked on it for a while so I just release what I have.

There are no palswaps made but I copied the tint definitions from the HRP. Here are some of the upscaled sprites as examples.

Wait, wasn't the game originally using a stolen version of the Build engine, with ripped sprites? I know they're giving it away for free, but that still seems illegal...

No, it's a bit different. AFAIK, there was no "stolen" Build engine, it's not Legend of the Seven Paladins 3D. The folks simply used a hacked binary from Duke Nukem 3D. They did change names and extensions of data files to obscure this fact (I guess), but the palette is the same as in Duke 3D.

I also don't think there are many ripped sprites from other commercial games. Probably a few edits, but even for a stand-alone Duke3D TC this game seems pretty solid when it comes to using original artwork.

Seems to me to be a distinction without a difference. Either way it was selling a game using an engine you weren't supposed to be using. But I guess since I don't know if anyone else is distributing games made in the Build Engine on Steam like this, that is, for free, it might be okay. Still seems weird to me.

In a country where, at the time, software piracy was the de facto norm. Legal aspects aside, I doubt 3DR suffered any material injury from the existence and sales of Liquidator. And now it's just a historical curiosity, and people interested can check it out if they want.

Just my two cents though.

I downloaded this from Steam, but uninstalled very quickly. At first glance it looked good, but problem was Cyrillic script without visible possiblity to change to English language. So I couldn't even navigate the menu- it´s all Greek to me.

You can download English version from link below. But it doesn't make the game any better, just interesting piece of history.

On a side note, I made a voxel key for that game... no idea why xD.

From what I've seen, a successor from 2005, named "Liquidator 2: Welcome to Hell", is commercially available from Steam as well.

ZOOM Platform also seems to offer both games in the same manner. Here's a link to the first, similarly offered for free where available: https://www.zoom-pla...duct/liquidator
