I don't get asking these questions, do you think they would be allowed to say something like that if they were doing that? :D

Nice! It's impressive that you've accomplished this without the source code. My only gripe is that it doesn't seem like it's taking aspect ratio correction into account (with 320x200 being treated as a 4:3 resolution with rectangular pixels instead of 16:9 with square pixels). Gives a vertically squished look. But it's not a terrible thing. Unfortunate, but not too terrible. Here's hoping for a Android port.

FRED DON'T ANSWER THAT! :D

Thanks for the comments, guys! I think it's pretty clear that Frederik and Interceptor's love for Duke will never die. You as well as lots of others have obviously been asking how Interceptor is now involved with the Duke IP and all I can say to that is, "Baby Steps"

Meanwhile, thanks for your support of Duke II iOS! It looks and controls great. Just blasted through episode one tonight: https://twitter.com/...9594624/photo/1

And since you love the new art so much, here's a wallpaper for ya!

Frederik Schreiber:

"Yeah, we found a way to change the sprites and animations as well, so we are currently doing the last tweaks that we had originally planned. One of those were to add shades to Duke in the game "

We've actually been debating about having Jon do voices and a trailer for Duke II. It's interesting because obviously Jon wasn't Duke until 3D. What do you guys think?

I think it's a good idea. With the sunglasses and Jon, we can finally retcon the Duke from DN2 with the others more recents Duke games.
I have a question, would it be possible to add voices ingame ? Or at least add voices at the end of the episodes ?

(I hope my english is understandable ^^)

That's a Frederik question and ultimately a Frederik decision. Let me go get Fred :-p

We have decided to keep the original Joe Siegler VO in the game,
We are updating a few things that we felt were missing from the original (Like the Shades), but we also want to keep it true to the 1993 classic in terms of soundeffects and the voice.

Ok, thank you for the answer.

Edit:

I have another question. I read that you have done a new theme song for the game. It is a new version of grabbag or a remake of the original theme ?

Its a new original themesong - Unfortunately no-one can touch the old Boddy Prince tracks. Not even remake them.
Thats why you dont hear remakes of (For instance) old Doom 1 tracks in Doom 3.

We wanted to remake an old track, but was forced to do an original track instead, and decided to do one which we are using in the Trailer, and in the Apps "Start Screen" :D

As cool as some people think those sunglasses are, I'm not really liking it or some of the other design decisions you have chose for Duke Nukem 2.

Maybe I am just too old fashioned as to how I like my games

When doing something like this we are doing it partly to introduce Duke Nukem to a new audience, as well as pleasing the hardcore fans.
We are trying to strike a good medium, making it pleasing visually to gamers who have never tried a Duke game before (8 year old iPad/iPod Gamers), as well as something
the hardcore gamers will enjoy.

We believe its out duty to bring the classics to a new generation. And the iOS platform is the absolute biggest platform to start with.
I have a great video of my 5-yold nephew, getting an iPad in his hands for the first time with Duke 2 on it.
Within seconds he's jumping, climbing ladders, and shooting enemies.
5 Minutes after, he ran around the livingroom, flexing muscles (Because he saw Duke flex his muscles in the loading screen).
THAT makes me happy - Because it brings back memories from when I was a kid, running around and dressing up as Duke Nukem.

That makes me believe in a bright future for Duke - And we believe its our responsibility, to bring back the king.

The "I'm back" thing should forever remain Joe's voice. Jon St John is a great voice actor don't get me wrong, but using his voice for that just seems... wrong.

I was originally opposed to the shades, but that is a very good reason and you guys did a good job modifying the pixel art.

The decision has been made to keep Joe's original voice.

And the shades actually look really cool in-game. I was on the fence about it myself until I saw it happen. That was actually Scott Miller's idea. When we started on the port it was one of the first questions he asked, heh.

And of course we're keeping Replogle's death scream. It's the best thing ever.

Love the shades! If I don't want them, I'll play the original Duke Nukem 2 for crying out loud. It's cool that you guys are adding variation without going too extreme.

On a note of its own, I like the fact that you guys are directly keeping in touch with your potential customers. I'd say that's definitely bringing PR up a notch.

I hope you guys are keeping the Apogee logo screen with the best slogan in all of history, "The Height of Gaming Excitement". (See my signature.)
