Eduke Episode 1 Ending

I just finished playing episode 1 and after the cinematic the screen went black and I never saw the ending text story. After I hit space on the black scren the stats came so it didnt freeze or anything. I tried this with a couple of older eduke builds as well as turning polymer on/off but still same thing. Finally I put it on software mode and that worked but i was wondering if there was a solution that made them show up on opengl.

Well Creepwood, the episode 1 ending works for me, and I'm guessing it works for everyone else. Is it just the episode 1 ending that doesn't work or do all of them do it? Either way, it helps to post up your log (a file called eduke32.log that's created after every playthrough and can help us analyse the error.)

Not sure about the other endings, I havent got there yet. Here is a log file from playing through the ending.

Nope, I have exactly the same issue. The endings show the cutscenes, but not the text story screen. It's been happening for so long, I don't remember the last time I saw it.

This is easy to test, you don't need to play through the episodes. Start a game, open the console, type:

god
give all
spawn boss1

Then kill the boss.

EDIT: The story screen does appear when playing in software mode, so you know we aren't using a hacked GRP or something like that.

Whoa Thriftwood was right, the story screen didn't load. I'd just assumed it was working for me which is pretty stupid of me. I guess we don't have to worry about logs then if it's an eduke32 issue.

I suspect it's caused by the Polymost fading effect that TerminX coded to match software but never finished; I think I remember noticing that before.

I did a little bit of testing and the last version of eduke to correctly play the text scenes was 20100425-1623. The next build available(1632) has the issue. A few of the changes definately point the way to the problem:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
r1632 | terminx | 2010-05-07 13:45:40 -0700 (Fri, 07 May 2010) | 2 lines
Fixes anim playback, mouse lag with low fps, keyboard setup menu

There's a story? I guess it doesn't work for me either, since I'd only beaten the episodes through eduke32 I didn't know I was missing anything.

Gave it a try and noticed that pressing space during the cutscene takes you immediately to the score screen but enter takes you to the text story screen. Anyone else can confirm?

Ah I see what you did back there, and I don't see what's wrong with making a humorous post in Cheaphood's thread. The funny part is DT actually quoted both mine and Jhect's good bits both times

I just think he never knows what he is typing half the time.
His brain must be thinking something else but his fingers type what we see above, or at least I hope this is the case.

Agree. While what you said was a little clever, I never said it was funny. Layers
