** Custom music for Eduke32

Hello guys, I have searched the forum for any topics related but counld't find them, so I decided to create a new one for it.

Now here's my problem, I have Eduke32 HRP4.0 downloaded a while ago, and the original music that comes with it, wasn't really my taste.
So I changed the music, by simply creating other songs in the vobis OGG format (which the originals cam in) gave them the corresponding name as the original
(for instance: E1M2: dethtoll --> new song will play)

However, now I wanted to play the game again just a few hours ago. I got a message that a newer version was available, and likely... I downloaded it.
I unpacked the zip folder, copy-paste the new files into my Eduke directory and sterted playing. Now a curious thing happened: my own music wasn't playing when I came to E1M2.

Can someone please tell me where this new Eduke32 version gets it sounds from then? (since I haven't got any music map in it, containing the original music.)

thank in advance

If you had called it E1M2.ogg it wouldn't play because the map name is E1L2 They you an "L" for level, not "M" ;)
But then I am having trouble understanding you and you could mean your trying to play a user made map, which in that case it needs to be the same name as the map. MYHOUSE.MAP = MYHOUSE.OGG in the main directory of EDuke32.

no that's not what I meant indeed.

The second mission from episode 1 (Redlight District = E1M2 for short) [terminology] has a music song called "dethtoll.ogg"
I then replaced thát song with my own one, also made it an .ogg and called it dethtoll.

Then I placed the new one in the map 'music' which is where Eduke32 takes (or maybe took) the music from for each level.
and it did work.. may I should say that aswell.

However just now I downloaded the newest version of Eduke32.
I copied the new files into the directory, where I have Eduke32 installed. and after that copy-paste thing, the music I replaced the original ones with, were not used anymore.
Instead, the original music was played again.

and the question was then, How and why?

is it just dethtoll that's not working? I just checked and it happens to me as well - no matter what I put in the user.con or anything, Eduke just plays dethtoll.mid when I play a usermap (it must be related to the feature that plays a midi track if it has the same name as the map file)

If I'm right in what you guys are saying, I think you mean that your own custom music isn't working.

Assuming this is true, this happened because your new eDuke32 files replaced the music files. All you have to do is copy the music files into the directory again.
