- Vintage computers, vintage synths (mostly digital) and what else? Duke Nukem. There are more, but they're equally as predictable.
Topics I've Started
16 April 2017 - 09:38 PMSome time ago there was a discussion in which I dug up and improved some old code I had written for a mod that will never be completed. This code allowed additional control over a well known feature in the game. Having had a boring few days I have made further improvements to the code in my spare time and stripped dependency on the rest of my abandoned mod. Therefore I have decided to release it as I'm never likely to use it for anything. I am doubtful anyone else will find a use for it either, but it is here in case they do or if someone has a need to run around kicking sector toilets in.
- Automated smooth player positioning.
- Multiple modes; regular with or without flush, floors, buckets, urinals.
- Male and Female modes.
- Simple damage system allowing the player to break things.
- Low quality sound effects from god only knows where.
- Overflow system, color changing water, steam, toilet paper and some random chance events.
- Uses hardcoded timer.
To run, simply unzip to a folder in your EDuke32 directory. Ensure there are no loose CON files in your EDuke32 root directory as they may conflict with the code or stop it from running. Load the included map to test the code out or see the included text file for instructions and known bugs/limitations.

The included map is literally nothing more than a test map that was thrown together in like two minutes, so it is ugly as hell and serves only to test the functions of the code. There is one of each type (except any real instance of type 5; no flush) in the map including one fully destructible sector toilet.
Various features either didn't make it or else weren't implemented well, this code was not thoroughly tested (in fact, the final revision wasn't tested at all) and there is every chance it could break at a moments notice. Some ramblings about that
"Quite possibly the most piss-poor mod ever devised." - Some guy I asked
"Well, that's 880 lines of code you'll never get back." - Someone else
"10/10" - IGN
Ugh, well, have fun. Hopefully I can finally wash my hands of this project... no you can't wash your hands, I didn't put that feature in, please don't request it... right... anyway, having spent time in the engine I am tempted to return to dust off some dormant maps I have on my drive, but I really can't promise anything anymore.
13 June 2015 - 04:15 AMSome guy in Russia has gotten Duke Nukem 3D to run on the 80386... It's completely pointless, but I seem to remember there being a thread talking about the lowest spec hardware that would "run" the game where it was discovered (by me, I think) that 486 architecture was the minimum requirement.
Here is the thread; http://www.vogons.or...6978bdee7b35260
Did anyone notice that my leaving of this forum was on May 7th, the same date I signed up... I don't expect to be back here, I just thought that this "port" should be shared with the community.
10 January 2015 - 11:45 PMBefore we go any further - this is complete rubbish and I made it as a joke, also my computer still isn't really stable enough for heavy editing so progress is slow on more serious stuff.
Mow your lawn is a mod which gives you a 1950's suburban home, or at least, the garden around it. Unfortunately the grass has gotten long and the cats keep leaving things behind in it. It's up to you to mow the lawn - if you can stomach the horrible controls.
Download - MediaFire 30MB
Read the text file to see how things work. Extract the contents of the zip to a folder in your EDuke32 directory - call it LAWN or something - and select that in the drop-down menu when you load EDuke32.
There is a secret exit in the map that's probably not worth finding.
10 February 2014 - 07:40 AMAfter seven long months, lots of technical problems and all manner of other mishaps, Nitroglycerin is here.

Nitroglycerin picks up where Quantum Physics left off. Duke exits the EDF Base by riding an elevator back to street level. In the North of the once popular holiday destination of Seaside city the industrial zone is dark and mostly disused. The EDF have learned that the alien invasion stems from a ship that was crash landed near the old city hall, these aliens weren't meant to invade, they were merely a scouting party, but when they crashed they deployed troops to find parts to repair their ship. The problem is that if the scouting party fix that ship, there are bound to be other aliens waiting to hear from them and if they hear Duke Nukem is around, they will probably all descend on the planet and cause a war.
Where you come in, Duke, is that you must get to that ship and stop the aliens taking off. EDF want to raid it for technology and search it for evidence of the location of the alien home planet, there is a small issue however, namely that the EDF, Police and Army barricaded the city to slow the aliens down - you need to blow that barricade to get to the old city hall - the problem with this is that they also removed all high explosives from the city... As you hear the aliens trying to blast their ship out of the dirt and start it's engines in the distance you know you must find the ingredients to make simple dynamite, blow the barricade to pieces and face whatever is on the other side, take too long and there is no telling what will happen.
Interesting random notes;
> This was developed on three different computers due to hardware problems!
> The map was designed for Polymer with lights disabled but any renderer should work.
> This is the first map I have made that is larger than 1MB.
> Most items can be gotten in any order, you need to press use to pick them up.
> Contrary to the above, the clock item wouldn't work with a switch for unknown reasons.
> The map has more than one ending, if you take longer than 30 minutes you get the bad ending.
> DNUNLOCK will break the map completely, don't use it!
> Seriously - the monitors in the chemical refinery are NOT joking!
Thanks to Methy for beta testing.
23 June 2013 - 06:17 AMI've never attempted to do this before, in short I am trying to use this palette here; http://forums.duke4....868#entry160868
I have tried using editart and Build_PalMake.exe, the resulting palette.dat looks fine in Editart (quite interesting actually, some of the textures look awesome) but as soon as I load EDuke32 I get garbage (see attached thumbnails) and the DOS exe crashes. I can supply the image files I am using to try and make the palette if anybody wants those.
