  1. What's Duke4?

Haha, get it? Like that old joke, "What's a dikfer?

Anyway, since Duke 4(ever) has come and gone, what about a title change?
  2. Survival Horror in Duke Nukem?

    24 August 2017 - 10:44 PM

Anyone enjoy the survival horror genre?
    Most notably games such as:

    Alone in the dark
    Silent Hill
    Parasite Eve
    Resident Evil

Personally, I get the most enjoyment out of this style of gameplay. The story, the different camera set ups, the suspense, the puzzles, the pacing of the action, and especially the way you collect items and how you choose to organize and utilize items creatively are all aspects of the genre I enjoy. I often wonder why there aren't many games out today that are similar. I have a difficult time believing its because they wouldn't sell in todays market.

Anyway, my intention of this thread was to ask everyone how they felt about incorporating some of these survival horror gameplay aspects into the next Duke Nukem game? In particular, things like more puzzles that open up other areas of a map and/or secret areas and that even unlock/expose weapons and inventory items. Also, implementing a similar style of the collection and storage and utilization of items. Either by way of some sort of storage container or having the ability to drop items anywhere with still having the ability to pick them up later. Honestly, I feel that bringing a more suspenseful tone to a Duke Nukem game by incorporating these concepts, especially to non linear gameplay like in Duke 3D, could really be a good thing.

  4. Duke's Inventory

Perhaps I'm not giving the AI enough credit and/or not anticipating the baddies early enough in Duke 3D.
When I drop a Holoduke, it never works. Also, it seems like too many vision goggles appear and can't be
    utilized anywhere.
