  1. Duke Nukem Forever 2011 and Lighting

    13 July 2018 - 10:56 PM

    Hello,

I have a question regarding Duke Nukem Forever and their choice of lighting for large outdoor areas. It seems that dynamic lighting ha been chosen over baked shadows for statically lit scenes?

I mean, wouldn't this be more CPU efficient? Guess maybe I don't know as much as I thought.

Would love to get an explanation regarding this. Thanks!
  2. DNF CODING CORNER

    17 December 2016 - 06:30 PM

Hi all! I am really enjoying these forums, thank you very much for allowing me to be a part of this community! I noticed it's not too active around the DNF corner, and I'm sorry if I'm posting too many topics, or if there is a redundancy in this post. If so, please feel free to shut this topic down and redirect me over there.

Duke Nukem Forever has a LOT of history, as I'm sure you all know. I've been fascinated by this game with my recent discovery, and have actually gotten my hands on the downgrade patch. The patch is awesome, and PROPS to that beautiful shader 15. Great work devs!

Alright, with that out of the way, let me get to the point.

THE SOS console let's me see a TON of engine variables, but I know that without the source code, but I'd like to know as much as possible because I am a huge fan.

I was wondering if there have been any attempts at organizing the code, and if anyone has an understanding of how the actors are set up, if there are any shared variables besides things like translation, etc.
  3. Duke Nukem Forever ANM files

    11 December 2016 - 02:20 PM

Hi there guys! Has ANYONE had any luck figuring out the ANM files extracted from Anims.dat/Animdirs.dat in the game files? I've picked at them with a hex editor, and was only ever able to find the event calling the animations.

I would REALLY appreciate the help of a genius mind. :)

    Thank you again!
  4. Duke Nukem Forever Plot Leak?

    11 December 2016 - 02:17 PM

Hey there! I cannot seem to find, anywhere on the internet, the original plot leak from about 8 years ago after 3D Realms closed their doors.

IGN has taken it down, and the only bit I was able to recover was the level chart.

I'd really appreciate Design documentation links if anyone is able to provide them. :)

    Thank you!
  5. New Duke Nukem Forever Beta screenshot? Fake?

    05 December 2016 - 05:23 PM

    Hello all!

I've bought an old computer on Ebay with a working windows install and happened upon several archives labled D.7z, but they are all password protected.

The only image besides the standard windows wallpapers was this one, any one good at cracking 7z files? Would this be illegal? Doesn't this look a bit like 2003 beta Duke Nukem Forever? It looks like the humble beginnings of a level.

I'm very fascinated by this discovery!

    EDIT : Here we go.
