  1. Extreme ROTT level problem

    04 March 2016 - 10:05 PM

I can't access E2M4 of the Extreme ROTT addon without the warp cheat. I think it should be accessible through E2M1, where you have 2 choices of exit. One leads to E2M2; I think the other one is supposed to go to the fourth level, but instead, it goes to the fifth one. The fourth level of E2 isn't a secret one and shouldn't be a warp-only level either.

I tried downloading the addon from different sources; I also tried changing my ROTT version with the patches (mine is the 1.2 CD version) and all have the same result.

Can anyone confirm this with their copy of the game? Understandably, there's little in-depth coverage of the levels in this addon.
  2. Duke Nukem 3D Saturn prototype

    03 January 2015 - 03:11 PM

For those unaware, a pre-release build of Duke Nukem 3D for Saturn was released online a few years ago. I've wanted to play it for quite a while, but always lacked free time; now I just tried it and found out my PC sucks for Saturn emulation. The proto has a date of September 18, 1997, which is approximately 1 month before release. So it may have little to no differences. Still, it's always nice to verify that. Is there anyone willing to give this prototype a run and looking into it? You'd need a modded Saturn unit, or you can use the swap disc method (and it's probably better to play it on the actual hardware than emulators, anyway). Of course, knowing about the final release would really help, but is not necessary.

  3. Is it possible to complete this map?

    27 January 2013 - 02:11 PM

I stumbled upon this old usermap in my collection and wanted to give it a go (check attachment). I'm found the yellow access card, went up the yellow access elevator to a floor that has a central room blocked by a door. The central room has the next card, red card, but the door doesn't open completely. There appears to be no other way through; am I missing something or is it a design mistake?
  4. Duke Nukem 3D different shareware versions

    26 January 2013 - 01:48 PM

So there are 1.0, 1.1 and 1.3d versions of the shareware for Duke 3D. I'm familiar with 1.3d and 1.1 differences, some are stated on the duke wiki. But are there noticeable differences between 1.0 and the other two, or is there a page that describes this? Everywhere I look I'm only able to find info on 1.3d or 1.1 (as scarce as it is), and 1.0 appears to be unavailable anywhere.
  5. Main menu difference

    04 December 2012 - 08:31 PM

One thing I didn't pay real attention to until now, is a difference in the title screen when I use EDuke32, compared to almost every other video of EDuke32 I see.

In most videos I find on youtube of regular Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition through EDuke32, here's the main menu background: (at 0:17)

There's another one where it's the Atomic Edition being played, but the main menu background image is the alien organic texture like this:

    Mine looks like this:

What's the reason for these differences? Is it based an EDuke32 setting or version?
