Hey! I don't know who is currently preparing the DNF 2001 build, but Duke fans will want to finish the game. And I want to offer myself as a level designer to make the missing levels for DNF 2001 together. This game has always been my dream game. Duke was the reason I got a job working for 3D Realms on Bombshell and then on Rad Rodgers and Ion Fury. Also, as you know, I have made many quality mods for various Duke Nukem games. Plus I have worked with different versions of Unreal Engine. This is my favorite game engine. I will be glad to cooperate.

The gunplay looks great. The source code getting leaked is certainly great news, maybe a group of fans can actually turn this build into the game that was advertised in the E3 trailer.

On another note: I love the voiceover, it's exactly like in D3D. At some point Jon St. John completely changed his delivery.

I don't believe there's gonna be any leak. Remember Duke Nukem: Critical Mass? Nobody ever said "Oh, there's gonna be a leak coming in a month, here are videos and screenshots." No. The whole thing was leaked immediately.
For me, this is nothing but bits and pieces of the playthrough that Fred streamed privately some years ago, just like all the other stuff that was leaked during the years (which was also accompanied by claims that they had the whole thing and they would leak it "soon").

Yeah I agree, let's just temper expectations. I really hope it gets released because it would be great to put this whole "DNF 2001 was almost finished and awesome" myth to sleep but yeah, if they wanted to leak the whole thing then it would already be out there.

Anyway I'll just say this: the leaks look quite bad. The basic arsenal seems to work fine but everything else seems like test maps and are incredibly rough. I can't imagine how this could look "80-90%" finished to anyone let alone to someone who's supposed to be in the games industry.

This looks too good to be taken from a stream. But yeah, I'm not holding my breath until something is actually released.

The thing is real, thats for sure. Does this mean it will be leaked? Absolutely not, specially when the guy said that their group would leak it in June, which I call bullshit. Why not now?

But people on 4chan were asking the guy to perform concrete actions in the game and to post proof of them and the guy delivered.

So yeah, its the real deal. New stuff not relates to previous media.

This build really is just a glorified vertical slice. To actually get 2001 DNF, a group of fans would have to further develop this build. Ideally the rights could be sorted out and a professional team could finish this properly and release it.

Either way, I'm happy if I get to play through it after watching the 2001 trailer so many times. The gunplay looks rocksolid.

I'm not even doubting the leaked footage autheticity. I do believe the guy really has a build with him.
Problem is, he claims he will only release it in June which is enough time for a Randy magic trick (if you know what I mean).

When you are a Duke fan for so long, after all the lies and empty promises, it's only natural to be just a little skeptical of something that's too good.

Hi Everyone I was member here in the past, I registered back in 2016, but totally forgot both the email, and username I used, and gave up, only to see today the AMAZINGLY exciting news about the 2001 version of DNF. And signed up again. I have wanted to play that version since forever (lol) and am incredibly excited. I really hope it is released, and have been hoping since the time this thread was made, 4 years ago. I really, really want to play the 2001 version. I'm a BIG Duke fan.

Probably to gain enough media/players attention before releasing it, then making a show of the release itself? Of course it might also trigger some unhealthy interest from Take2, but I doubt they will go to any extent to actually stop some anonymous guy.

Why not release old prey , dnf and whatever builds?
Way of thinking that George has "oh it brings back pain memories"... really? That is selfish af. Whole team worked on it for years. it is a digital scrap and will bring a lot of fun to fans and modders. Why sit on it and let it go to waste
