DNF 90% Complete Goalposts Shift to 2002 Build  "3DR wants to release it, but it's up to Gearbox"

I can't blame either of them too much. They both did what they thought was best at the time. Their goal was not to disappoint even if that's what happened.

You should do that.

They are both trying to get the fandom excited over NOTHING.

Not nothing. But not something easily accessible. Fred has definitely played real stuff.

It's only a resource glut that makes annoyance about these sort of things viable. Neither Fred or Randy are your enemy, and I can't guarantee but I'm pretty confident if you were suddenly thrown in their shoes you'd make similar choices.

Fred oversold, Randy undersold. Individual mileage would vary.

Someone who wants access to raw data and has the know how to modify it would be in heaven. Someone who wants access to a ready to play quality 2001 era game would be disappointed. However the former group *could* meet the second group in the middle if ever a path were forged. But let's say you... Altered Reality were suddenly the owner of the Duke IP and you were handed a 2k1 E3 build.

What are the sort of checkboxes you think you'd need to check to be able to release a modifiable 2k1 E3 build of DNF without putting your entire company and all the people you employ into legal jeopardy?

I don't think Altered suggested Fred was lying. And the checkboxes to tick question is complicated. Are you saying that he'd have full control of everything or be in the exact same place as Fred is where the release of the old builds rely on the cooperation of other parties. From what I gathered Fred couldn't have released the content even if he wanted to, right? So the list of stipulations would of course include having the permission from any other relevant companies who maintain the distribution rights, and also the deletion of sensitive materials such as names and confidential info within the source code, because that hurdle was also alluded to in the past. That's about it. I know you weren't asking me, but those are my two cents.

Then I agree with you, because he has his hands tied.

Duke is not dead. Duke lives on in the community. Sure, it'd be nice to have a new game, but we are what keep Duke living.

I think; dead, as in inactive, and not as in, living in the hearts of the fans.

Okay, enough picking on Fred. He's still trying to convince his woodwind-inclined band mate to replace Cena as Duke.

... But not for making new games it seems.

What is it going to take for GBX to realize they are sitting on one of the most beloved gaming franchises in history.

For Christ's sake, pull your finger out of your ass and do something with it!

Do something with the finger????
Or do you mean the franchise?

Valid question.

I don't want to be involved with GBX pulling its finger out of its ass and doing something with it.

You are on your own Tea Monster.

I don't want to be left holding the finger like this!

That would explain why they've been distracted so far.

Nice try. That .gif is in reverse.

Then again, a lot of what you post is completely backwards. :(

From the leak http://boards.4chan....1146#p423051262

"I'd say around 3 GBs considering all of the test maps, dismemberment is in the game aswell; shooting limbs off, etc, every gun has multiple firing modes: The Chainsaw is in.
desert eagle has .50, piercing,
shotgun has acid, buck, slug,
machine gun has grenades/bullets,
rpg has nuke/rocket,
flamethrower has gas cloud /flamewall,/fire
everything is useful for multiple things. pipebomb is called "multibomb"
has sticky, proximity, and detonator modes.

The game also has .ini configuration files which you can customize the resolutions."

I wonder how well the UI elements scale in modern widescreen resolutions like 1920x1080?
