Help! I'm a prisoner of an old Eduke with a new computer!

#1

The screen I get when I start the game is tiny and in the right bottom part of my screen. I cannot increase the size to full screen. I have a 3 year old Eduke and a new Windows 10 comp.

Where is the newest Eduke?

Download either eduke32_win64_20170729-6399.7z or eduke32_win32_20170729-6399.7z depending if you have a 64bit cpu or a 32bit cpu.

Well, I DL'd it and dropped it in my DN3D folder.

The problem is there is no exe with it. I am using the old .exe in the folder, the blue nuke symbol. I DL'd that in 2012.

The new file did change things...I can now get a big screen in the middle of my screen at 1280 X 1024 (the max for the old 4:3 screen right?). I like the old 4:3 "square screen" best. Widescreen is a FOV stretch and Duke feels just 2 feet tall.

Anyway, every time I try to launch, it says "does not support open GL" or some nonsense, but when I hit enter the game launches anyway.

Make sure you are launching the game in 8bpp Classic mode rather than 16bpp or 32bpp Polymost mode to stop getting the OpenGL error.

Also the widescreen is properly supported in EDuke32 and doesn't stretch the FOV unless you turned it off.

Extracting? My comp won't open .7z so I just dropped it in my Duke folder.

Then you're going to be forced to install 7-zip.
It's free and doesn't have ads, reminders, or other bloat-crap, so it's painless other than having to install another piece of software just to use the latest snapshot.

Thanks Forge.

I didn't know DN3D from 1996 supports widescreen. Every WS I ever saw had a stretched FOV. It's easy to tell, just look at the pipebombs you hold. They are way too wide. Plus the HUD and everything else.
