M8, Gearbox is responsible for 2K's highest selling franchise. Their working on Borderlands 3 for 2K as we speak, and as TerminX pointed out, they opened a new Quebec studio in 2015. Gearbox are powerful enough to shrug off the commercial failure of Battleborn. Heck, they are even continuing to push their in-house publishing arm despite Duke 3D underperforming. They ain't going nowhere regardless of how much bad PR Randy receives.

Yep, the article is BS. It's based on this, which just repeats the well-known facts that Battleborn and World Tour were flops without giving a single relevant number pertaining to Gearbox's overall financial health.

Zelnick believes that there is still untapped opportunity in Battleborn as 2K will still try to market the game to gain more traction. The game makes money through the virtual currency and other add-on content similar to how Overwatch and Team Fortress 2 operates.

Those guys make money. Any given game does not have to be in the top ten to afford you a living.

As much as I don't like Gearbox, they're not going anywhere, not until 2K kill them and 2K belong to Take-Two who also so happens own R* who created the most successful video game franchise called GTA. I mean Battleborn production costed them more than three Borderlands games combined (one of them had quite bad sales) and it failed so hard 2K did nothing to Gearbox, why would they suddenly go away now?

Typical click-bait article, regret that I gave them my click. At best this "journalists" just proved that Gearbox behavior is retarded and that they were just lucky with HL addons and Borderlands, but even then this was known long time ago.

I doubt they ever expected WT to be any kind of major source of income for them.

Well, when you're trying to pander to retards by making ugly as hell women on purpose with bland design and without hiding it (Blizzard's libtard agenda isn't that obvious in the game thanks to attractive women) you shouldn't be surprised that there is no porn of it, I bet sickest artists don't want to touch their game because of said bland design either, I mean did you see Evolve porn, for example? Now try to find something for Battleborn. And Overwatch is a perfect bait for rule34, even Zarya is getting porn, I bet it has shitton of faggotry porn as well.

Besides, they forgot with whom they've competed, modern Blizzard is shit and Activision's bitch, but they still have a lot of mindless idiots who were ready to waste even more than 60 bucks on Overwatch while Gearbox reputation is extremely low. Even marketing campaign was awesomely insane for Overwatch, I don't think WoW had it as big. Battleborn is dead for sure and not even going F2P route can save this disaster because it's too late. People claim it has gameplay over Overwatch (not like it's hard to have better gameplay than in Overwatch), but since it cost money no one is willing to risk.
