What's the CDBaby process like, and how much does it cost?

They seem to have added more options since I last used it, but it's free to sell on CD Baby's store, and to distribute it to other vendors like iTunes you pay per single or per album, a monthly/annual subscription membership is not required like some others. A single is $10 and an album is $50 for the standard package. Once you upload there might be some verification process but it's up on the CD Baby store immediately basically. Over time it gets onto iTunes and everything else. About two weeks max it's everywhere. It even has streaming options for Spotify and a system to automatically flag your music for revenue on Youtube if someone uses it in their videos (I don't use this personally). You control the process on the CD Baby store completely, but you don't directly control iTunes or Amazon or the other big vendors. CD Baby covers that for you. They suggest you get all your information right the first time before it goes beyond CD Baby. Afterwards they can make minor changes like a spelling mistake in the title or the track/album artwork. Other than that it's out there and there's nothing you can do. They also handle brick and mortar distribution, you just have to have 1-5 (I can't remember the exact number) complete CDs with artwork and everything ready and send it to them for them to duplicate I guess. Oh, you can pay for a UPC code as well that you can throw on physical media. I also just noticed that they have their own physical packaging now which is quite nice.

Overall I was happy with my experience. You can check out the FAQ for more info.
