The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild  "for Wii U and NX"

So Nintendo just announced the name and a new gameplay trailer for their latest Zelda game, Breath of the Wild on their E3 treehouse live.

You can likely watch the interviews and gameplay segments afterwards, but they're still live as of writing this post, just starting to showcase more of the game at https://www.twitch.tv/nintendo

I, for one, am super excited for this, and will be getting it for both systems.

I would still like to know what the fuck NX is before I buy a Wii U

I will totally buy an NX for this. Little disappointed they're still afraid of going full realistic, but that's neither here nor there.

I see something that very closely resembles the Temple of Time! :)

As long as the combat is real-time and not a dice roll or turn-based I'm happy.

It's the same combat you've gotten used to since Ocarina of Time. The big change is that weapons now break (I guess until you find the Master Sword?), so you need to constantly shift your gameplay style and steal weapons from dead enemies, which I think is a cool change. Judging by what I saw, you constantly get enough weapons to fill your inventory so that won't be a problem either.

Trailer of the 3 new Amiibo that will be released alongside the game around March 2017.

And a trailer for the Wolf Link Amiibo functionality. Looks like if you 100% Twilight Princess HD, you get benefits for Breath of the Wild.

Nintendo is now uploading all of the Treehouse Live segments of Breath of the Wild, which go through the game in more depth, showcasing gameplay while also having interviews with some of the creators (Eiji Aonuma and Shigeru Miyamoto). I lost count of how many there are, but there were at least around 8 of them.

Part I: Introduction (with Eiji Aonuma)

Part II: Exploration

Looks great! I have a Wii-U (Super Mario 3D World rocks), so I'll be playing that version. Also nice to hear them mention it supports the pro controller, not just the huge tablet controller.

If I can do this, I'll buy it

I don't see why not, since the game is completely physics based. Also.

I know, really? It baffles me as to why Nintendo produces the most mouth-watering Zelda console tech demos and then the actual game is far more cartoony.

Probably because going realistic would be the ugliest and worst decision imaginable.

Twilight Princess was fantastic.

Twilight Princess has the last attractive (read: terrible and ugly) art style of all the Zelda games. I'm SUPER glad they went with a theme similar to Skyward Sword and went even further with that style. Absolutely love the new Zelda game.

Twilight Princess was my favourite and I thoroughly enjoyed the style.

The new game looks lovely too. Like an living painting.

I'm interested in this. I haven't played a Zelda game since around the time Gameboy Color was out, but this looks like something I could get into.
Again though, I want to find out what the NX is before diving in. So many cool looking Wii U games but I'll be patient.

Disagreed. A style like the 2nd Tech Demo Duke Rocks posted, or like Ocarina would be a good direction to take. It's semi-realistic, but still stylized without looking like a cartoon.

While I did like Twilight Princess, it could have used some more color. It was quite washed out originally.

The HD version looks much better, but still could use more color:

I need a Wii U...I'm missing so many Zelda games from my collection. Last ones I got were Phantom Hourglass and Skyward Sword.

Framerate drops and bad textures throughout that trailer, yikes.

What the fuck happened to Zelda Princess? Who designed this shit?

Also, paid online was the least thing I expected from Nintendo, that was really surprising. I wonder if it's NoA who was behind this idiotic decision.

Looks like it's going to be just another tinker toy system from Nintendo.
Here's an idea... actually create a console with powerful hardware and let your game creators go wild with some current year realism.

A link to the past on the SNES was the last Zelda game that excited me, other than the first one for NES.
I own the n64 games and never could get into them. Either I'm too old for this shit or once again it's a non-ground breaking new system/Zelda.

Nintendo will probably die off as a console maker sadly.
