I posted the Greenlight trailer in the Post Thread a while ago and the game has been Greenlit since but a new trailer has popped up today:

Made in Australia, Devil Daggers appears to be inspired by early 3D model first person shooters and arcade games.

So it's a survival/arena style game? That's a big shame; it's got a great art style and atmosphere, and I'd like to see what they could do with proper singleplayer levels and premise.

I agree. I wish it was a proper single player experience rather then a survival arena game. The art looks fantastic.

I think this game looks really good graphically
the art style, I'm a huge fan of.
I just hope it's not just a flat plane to jump around and destroy enemies...
even if it's an arena game, I hope there's at least some level design in there.

also this kind of creeps me out:

Is the game really running on a lower resolution or is that just filters?

If I didn't know better, I'd say it almost has a voxel feel to it.

It's a shame, with that hand sticking out and the art style I could almost see this as a spiritual dark reboot of Catacombs 3D.

It looks great. Not too fond of the gameplay style though. I mean, they did put a lot of effort into it, and that's a bonus, but to me it looks like it would get boring very fast.

This seems to be par for the course with all these retro-fps games though. They don't want to do any actual level design.

The levels (or lack thereof) is the only thing killing it for me.
Have a level shrouded in complete darkness, sure, but throw in some MC Escher type architecture or something; make a spiral staircase that leads no where, have a bunch of stone hedge pillars that hold up nothing, anything to break up the monotony. Wolfenstein 3D's level design makes this look a bit primitive.

Those sound effects get very annoying very quickly.

And yeah, level design makes or breaks 'retro' FPS. Well, FPS in general. Even FEAR with some of the best gameplay ever has incredibly repetitive level design which kills my motivation for finishing the game.

As everyone else has been saying, it has a great visual style but is severely lacking in gameplay. Based on that video, the game consists in circle strafing whilst firing a stream of globs from your hand. I honestly believe that a lawn mowing simulator could be more interesting. Even without a level designer, I would expect much, much better.

This game is hard as balls! Sound design is insanely good, too.

I haven't watched the video but I hope the title is being sarcastic.
This entire game seems to be a flat plane with monsters... and that's it.

This game has gotten mad coverage since release.
Good for the dev, its nice to see such a project get a lot of exposure.

Bought Devil Daggers, If you perceive it as an arcade game, It's a damn solid arcade game.
In fact, extremely solid, and very, very, addictive.
