Oh wow, the memories. I used to play Chip's Challenge when I was a kid.

Holy crap. I just hope my computer is powerful enough to play it.

This plus the already released Chuck's Challenge from the original author makes this a complete set. Chip looks different, though.

I discovered the sprite is from the sequel itself http://www.pillowpc2.../Lynx/Chip.html

"Chip's Challenge"? Man, haven't heard of that in a long time. I used to play that for hours back in the day...
Ah, memories.

Backers of Chuck's Challenge are getting free beta keys for Chip's Challenge 1 to help test the games. Nice bonus. The new engine is nice (if it is new, I assume it is). Fluid animations everywhere and you don't have to keep tapping the arrow keys to move around like in the old version. Just hold down the arrows. Music isn't working yet, though. No full screen option and the window is fairly small on a 1080p screen, but I see currently greyed out options for up to 4x scaling as well as a level editor, load levels set, record/replay function, share folder, cut/copy/paste, save BMP, and checkbox options for Show Map and Show Secrets, whatever they are. You can also print the full current level on paper.

Well, it's out now and there is a cheaper bundle for both games now http://store.steampo....com/sub/64119/

There is a little bit of info at the bottom of the article:
Looks like something happened with the Publisher and was never picked up by another I guess.

We’re not sure what became of the NES version. What we do know is that Bullet-Proof announced it at Winter CES, January 1991, then exhibited it again at Summer CES in June, and then as far as we can tell, never mentioned it again. Interestingly, this build of the game is dated 5/8/1992, meaning that it was burned well after those demos. And, you may notice, Bullet-Proof does not appear in the ROM at all. Perhaps Bullet-Proof decided to pass, and this was a polished demo that was being passed around in the hopes of finding a new publisher? I contacted the NES version’s programmer to ask, but haven’t heard back. I’ll update this should he ever reply.

Maybe the guys that did the Duke Nukem Genesis Cartridge (Piko Interactive), can do this one for the NES? I would buy it in a second.

If they did, I'd like to see them attempt to finish it since it has no sound and not all the levels are included.
