[Never Forgotten]

Duke Nukem's Penthouse Paradise is an official add-on level for Duke Nukem 3D, available exclusively from GT Interactive and Penthouse Magazine. Taking place between Duke Nukem 3D and the Plutonium Pak, aliens interrupt Duke's vacation and a couple of Penthouse photo shoots. Duke has to fight his way through a hotel, clubs and finally the Penthouse offices.

I only found this late last year, almost everyone here has probably played it, but I'm still curious what you think of it. I loved it, it was fun. Just curious of what people thought.

Was that the same level that had all of the porn in it? I thought it was kind of shitty gameplay, but the level design was pretty good. It was full of glitches .

Yeah, but it was still fun to play.

I thought it was fun. The design wasn't too shabby and it was nice to be able to blow away aliens without worrying about the women getting blown apart in the process (all hail invincible women!).

Yeah, this was a pretty glitchy level for me (I would always get stuck under the water at the start of the map because it kept teleporting me back under).

I can say I enjoyed the map (when it worked) as it was honestly quite fun but I can also say that I didn't enjoy the ending area, that part sucked.

There was also tits, my teen self enjoyed that part.

It's one of the stupidest maps ever made for Duke. Sub-average gameplay and level design with repetitive, frozen, and horribly placed sprites of naked women. If I want to get off to that, I'll freaking google it, not play a Duke map.

Aren't all the ladies from the issue of Penthouse that the map shipped with? Beyond that, there aren't too many more art tiles.

Ah yes, I remember this map. The mod Duke L.A. had this map in it, if I recall.

Yeah, but it's re-titled simply as Paradise.

I have faint memories of it. I remember it being a fairly simple level, though. The only interesting thing in it were the pixelated women, but that got old fast, as did the nudity in the vanilla game.

Can't be bothered actually setting it up and playing it, so I tried looking for a video playthrough, which I can't seem to find anywhere.

Instead of pasting naked women all over the place, they should've put them in secrets or hard to reach places, to make it feel more of an accomplishment.

It's your average enjoyable user-map i'd say.

Level design is good overall, there's no real problems except the water area that keeps you underwater when trying to get to the surface as mentionned above. Otherwise there's no big flaws, doors are working good, textures fits well, the map is well designed and not rushed like some commercial add-ons we had back then (Duke XTREM )

New art files are not necessary and do not add that much to the overall experience, but i guess it was kind of a surprise back then to see full naked womans in really suggestive positions.

Well, i'd give it a 13/20, it's really okay, and it's a 1997 map guys, considering it was created as a pornotional level for Penthouse magazine, it's already impressive that it doesn't suck ass (no pun intended).

The problem is that I expected it to be a masturbatory experience and it wasn't that much. I mean, it's nice to see the girls, but, unlike the girls in vanilla, they aren't interactive (IIRC), so the point is lost.

Yeah i agree on that point, the porn feature doesn't add really much, and i think it's better this way talking about the gameplay itself.

A funny thing, there's only one girl that can be interacted with if i'm correct (at the very end, near the pool), and all she does is... using Mickey Mouse Babe Land quotes Wanna take a picture with me ? hahaha
