3D Realms is back. Anthology now available!  "3D Realms is back!"

Hmm. Why is Dark Ages not on the Anthology?

Neither is Xenophage: Alien Bloodsport for some reason.

[Edit] I've just noticed that the screenshots on the Wolfenstein 3-D page are the same as those at MobyGames. Did you just take MG screenshots for the new site? Because the old site had different screenshots altogether.

Further to the FTP issue I raised, here's a mirror with a difference; ftp://mirror3dr.com/3DREALMS

This one even has the Dopefish if you use a text-based client, mirrors older versions of files and will mirror betas once they are released. An attempt to mirror the old website is in progress, currently linking to archive.org when a page doesn't exist or to the new site when it is no longer relevant. It should be as brwose-able on an older machine as it always was and lack the stupid banner and broken images that Archive.org has. The downloads page is mostly working by now anyway.

If anyone knows where I can get a complete copy of the site, that'd be cool. If nobody uses this or a better solution is brought out, no problem, I needed an excuse to get a domain name anyway as I use it a lot for other things and was tired of having to jot my IP address down. May be intermittent for a while as I have to move the server and cabling... Maybe I can get back to work on DARC and DNA now too.

Oh cool! Are you going to put up the old school shareware (and patch) installers I have mentioned before? (they are discussed in detail here)

Also, according to the Apogee FAQ, there used to be a folder for non-interactive slideshow previews, which had been removed from the FTP at some point. Will you re-instate those too? I've tracked down some of them, the links are here.

Well, the Wayback Machine has preserved the site in its recent state more or less completely. But you can also dive deeper and get some more nostalgia too :)

Anything that was on the original FTP is either there or will be. The Sharewares have the DOS installers that 3D Realms provided... Or they should, I never really checked. I shall mirror the site as it was before the relaunch, I'm not too fussed about the older design at the moment but in the future, who knows.

The slideshows I have added to the subdirectory slideshow but several of those links don't work. I'll try and track those ones down when I have time - hopefully later today.

The problem with pulling it from archive.org, which is what I have been doing, is that employing a bot is damn near impossible because of their awful directory structure, the scripts they inject and the fact that the ones I tested couldn't even begin to contemplate how to rewrite the URLs.

I find this thread confusing.

1) I realize 3D Realms was bought out by Interceptor Entertainment. Wouldn't this mean that any debts / outstanding lawsuits would have to be carried over to this new company? (That would be quite a weight to bear).

2) What about the existing shareholders, do they still have invested shares in this new 3D Realms company?

3) This Anthology boxed set, is this an actual updated release of these old Dos Titles in one package that runs on Modern day hardware? Or is this simply a release of the original collection of games that runs out of a DOS box environment with new art and music included on the same media?

If someone already owns these titles, where is the value in owning this box set? What's different? I mean won't Gearbox squeeze these guys by the nuts in terms of being able to release anything new? I fail to see the vision going forward, obviously there must be a future here otherwise these guys wouldn't be wasting their time & resources.

Thanks guys!

Please consider adding the pre-1998 installers. These shareware versions not only have nice ANSI logos (some of them do, at least) and include Apogee catalogues (more nice ANSI logos!). For example, Terminal Velocity shareware v1.1 and v1.2 also had small preview screenshot packs for the then-upcoming Duke Nukem 3D. These screenshots were later removed when the installers got updated somewhere around 1998.

Thanks! Please tell which links do not work. Most of the old slideshows are available at this FTP site (along with old Apogee releases).

As for the Shadow Warrior preview there's a clean version (no extra FILE_ID.DIZ file), which I have uploaded here.

preamble: I'm not a lawyer or associated with 3dr

1) 3DR still exists, it's not a new company, it still holds its own legal responsibilities as before, just new ownership.

2) Private company, still, no public shares sold that I'm aware of.

3) DOSbox + partial controller support + at least one port, EDuke32.

If you see it or not, there is forward thinking vision here, you'll notice pr is very different from most video game releases. This company has ears, and so far the ability to listen too.

I know it's Prey. I thought I did it with an "e," but it turns out my eyesight was flawed and I misplaced my vowel at that moment. Sorry about that.

Back on the topic of the product, it seems that the new 3D Realms doesn't accept debit cards anymore. And the site used to allow Pay Pal, but not anymore. I wonder why they made that decision.

We never accepted Paypal - But we're working on an implementation as we speak

I think I have an idea where this might be going. I have a suspicion since they still own the original Duke 3D rights. They might be working to re-write Duke's history a bit. Maybe making it seem like anything after Duke 3D (AKA DNF was just a bad dream). Then they will continue following the concepts from a re-birthed episode while shafting Gearbox's story line all together and giving them the ability to keep to the original Duke 3d theme. Or maybe i'm just blowing smoke. Now my question is should I continue my mapping in Mapster for this game or should I be brushing up my skills also on another engine? Us mappers need to be kept in the loop too you know.

What are the keys in there? Can you export a .reg of it and quote the file contents here?

Dim readValue As String

readValue = My.Computer.Registry.GetValue("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ 3DRealms\Anthology", "", "Value data")

(Value data + "\\Duke Nukem 3D")

Value data gets you C:\Program Files (x86)\3DRealms\Anthology.
You will have to add the sub directory /Duke Nukem 3D.

Remove the Wow6432Node\ for 32 bit systems.

I guess the Anthology is useful for anybody interested in that now. Guess I can say "good luck"!

About the FTP and more, according to this post the old site is expected to be restored at a different location sometime: http://forums.3dreal...502&postcount=2

As for the source codes, apart from the original archives (which I'm sure there are enough interested in the preservation of them), I suppose ApogeeSoftwareLtd/3DR/InterceptorEnt can create an account at a place like GitHub or Bitbucket for hosting source codes?

I mentioned to Fred that I would gladly lead this effort. We would need to do something like it anyway, considering the additional Duke/SW sources I found in the data Fred sent us.

Eduke32 should have been install in a separate folder from Duke Nukem 3D. Duke Nukem 3D Dos crashes after launching Eduke32.

What kind of crash? As far as I know we aren't using any of the same configuration file names as the original DOS version... does it crash at startup where it would normally prompt you to select a config file?

I just tested on Win 7 64bit, it did not crash for me, I cycled between DOS and EDuke32 a few times each, and played a bit in each episode.

Just after where it would normally prompt you to select a config file. I reinstall to a new directory outside the Program Files (x86), works fine now.

I posted it already. All you need for a fully complete site is to download the Stuff DIR and merge it yourself. That FTP site even has the Downloads.html file so you can verify for yourself. As far as I've seen, there is no other way to get a complete site mirror yourself because for some reason that Stuff DIR with the Wold3D Super Upgrades and the ROTT and other level editors was left out of most mirrors. But the one archive I posted (at 300+MB) has *everything* but /Stuff. So, you can basically have your own backup in a matter of 10-15 minutes. Have at it!

We also have local backups of everything, which will get transferred to the new page in steps over the next few months

I would like to see improvements to the 3D Realms Anthology and the standalone games. First is the graphic mode setup just like GOG.com's. Second is access to the Setup.EXE in DOSBox. Please implement these in the future. The problem I have w/ Duke Nukem 3D is that flickering problem during gameplay. Especially w/ the weapons that you're equipping. Keep up the good work!

That whole thing has been added, as well as a few files it was missing, a few trailers and whatnot. Having problems scraping some of the other files together so I'll try again at a later time, mostly more trailers so the stuff that actually does something (shareware, level editors) is pretty much there.

Also fixed a few other links that lead off-site and replaced the PKZip one with a PKUNzip link that points into my own FTP as it is more useful to potential users of older machines like me.

Ah, I've done that before. Should be as simple as a cURL operation in.. whatever server-side language you're using.

:) Hmm. I logged in w/ my FB account and went to under "My Games" and the games won't show up visually (see picture). I can click on them for download but they're invisible. Tried to download Cosmos Cosmic Adventure and Norton Internet Security sees it as a threat and removes it (When Norton's days run out. I'm switching to MSE). I also tried to click the Contact Us and nothing happens. Please fix these problems. Thanks!

EDIT: I'm thinking I'm gonna use the email way.

I think some of these issues are caused by adblockers and virus scanners. You can make the 3DR site an exception, to see if that works :)

Something that I found

3DRealms Anthology for OSX

Convert 3DRealm's Anthology launcher scripts to something that runs on Dosbox for Mac.

https://github.com/j...s-Anthology-OSX

I haven't tested it (I'm a Windows user mostly + linux sometimes).

So... Nobody else is bothered about this? What about the patches, sharewares and random bits and pieces that were there? Anybody have a mirror of it? Or am I going to have to put mine (outdated) online.

I'm not sure I understand this. The FTP site is online. It does however, seem to NOT show up if you try to access ftp://ftp.3drealms.com through a web browser. Use an actual FTP client. I had no problems getting in, although make sure to turn OFF passive mode.

Yes.

What shareholders? Apogee Software, Ltd (the legal name of the company, "3D Realms" is officially a DBA) has always been a privately held company.

Or is this simply a release of the original collection of games that runs out of a DOS box environment with new art and music included on the same media?

Gearbox controls Duke Nukem Forever and the Duke franchise going forward. That has always been the deal. All these other titles remain under the control of Apogee/3D Realms. This too has never changed.

As for vision? Ahem: http://www.bombshellgame.com

I disabled adblock plus on "My Games" page. I get the same result.

It was working fine awhile ago and still had adblock plus and Norton turned on. I'm using Firefox 33.0.2. Could the Firefox update has something to do w/ these problems?

I hope they don't use the same one as GOG.com because that one is bugged and screws up formatting of the DOSBox conf files.

The flickering problem in Duke3D happens in all Build engine games. It's caused by too high fps. You can use a file called nolfblim.com and run it before Duke3D. Or use vesa_nolfb video mode in DOSBox (causes lag). The proper fix would be for DOSBox to support V-Sync, but it hasn't been implemented yet.
