Unreal Tournament: 2341  "our ut2004 mod"

Hey guys, figured I'd post about this here

Posted Image

http://www.moddb.com...2341-hd-arsenal

Those renders I've been posting in the art thread, well, now we have a title and ModDB page for our mod

2341 is a mod for UT2k4 to bring back the weapons from UT99. We've been working on it for a little over a month now and have some decent content to show

We currently have 3 members - myself, an animator and a coder, but our coder is very busy with lots of projects - so if you know anything about UT2004 coding for weapons and particles, we could use your help.

EDIT: Good coder found, progress being made

Damn, that looks pretty sweet! Kinda suprised it's taken 10 years for somebody to make something like this...I know there's mutators around but they just 'kinda' make the UT2k4 weapon set act like the UT ones which isn't the same at all. I would of settled for just straight model ports but the models look fantastic (although I think they could do with being a bit darker and having a bit more contrast, but they might look perfect in game) The ripper especially actually looks really beefy and cool, adding the hand model to it was a great idea.

This is really awesome dude, I'm digging it. Use your talents when the new UT is released too.

I'll definitely host this on my UT2004 server when it's finished. ^_^

Here's our second animation reel before we post it on ModDB

Not really much of an update, but I spent today learning particle emitters and this is the result

tried to combine the UT99 look with elements of the pretty Unreal 2 particles.

no custom sprites, only stock ones which work surprisingly well - and the pulse particle is a teeny bit outdated.

This is looking truly amazing Bloodshot. As always, you are to be commended for your hard work.

Wish I knew how to do anything Unreal, i'd try to pitch in somehow.

Thanks, I'm glad I looked this stuff up because otherwise we'd be stuck with ugly ut2k4 particles.

Just made the shock combo explosion

Here's a video showing off more particles such as muzzle flashes, impact effects, etc.

How's progress? I'm still very interested in this.

We are making some progress, albeit very slow, unfortunately

We now have the sniper ingame with a proper shader, but our coder is quite busy so not much beyond particle/texture tweaks have been done currently.

If you know of anybody who knows UnrealScript if you could point them our way we'd greatly appreciate it

Based on the screenshot posted, it's 192.168.1.1.

You would figure there would be somewhere the seven people who still play that game congregate.

God damn it, I miss the days of the Wicked Game Server. I found out my best friend and I played together in that server six years before we even hung out in RL. Small fucking world...and the best damn server ever.

Man I remember camping out for like 1/2 hour sometimes just to get in on a crowded night...16 slots seemed so big back then. The UT2004 version of it wasn't as good, but still really cool.

The are so many things I miss about online gaming, but the intimacy and that warm, friendly vibe are just gone forever.

That isn't a public IP address. That will be what his router gave him, not what the web sees him as.

I loved that crap. LAN parties were it and that was one of the best games ever. Having your mate taunt you for 'hiding' and you have actually been trailing them across the map. Just as they start taunting you, you blow them up with the flack cannon. Online play is nice, but nothing can replace seeing that look on their face when you show them how it's done.

Good thing I didn't post those twenty pages of notes on how to find your public IP address that I wrote on my lunch break.

Progress is back on track

We got a different coder who's fixed up the issues with current weapons

He's coded the ripper, and the next thing he's working on:

Don't mind the positions, those are temp

EDIT: Picture updated with position change

Looks great - is the ROF of the sniper going to be configurable so it matches the UT version? I know it was ridiculously overpowered but it was just so satisfying to use like that :(

Looks great. The only quibble is that crate texture. Also, the lighting might be a bit more moody.

lol whoops, that ain't our map, just the one our coder took the screen on

Probably will be like UT99 - we are trying to recapture it in 2k4 so it'd make sense to have.

if you liked the trailer you'll probably love this

http://www.moddb.com.../ut-2341-beta-1

just fyi its an SP beta, the weapons are workable online but they have issues so I'd hold off using them online until we have the MP-compatible release, or if you can't wait we'll probably have a test server up and running soon.
